Lina has a terrible toothache, but is afraid to go to the local blacksmith who is the man the local go to when they need to get a tooth pulled. Emil thinks of various ways to do the same, but without success. Eventually poor Lina is fed up with Emil's crazy ideas and plucks up the courage to go to the blacksmith. And when the pastor comes visiting the house, he sees some old letters that had been in the little velvet box Emil bought at the auction. It turns out there are some rare old stamps on these letters, and the pastor pays Emil a lot of money for them. And as another prank lands him in the tool-shed yet again, Emil resolves, rather untypically, that forthwith he will be good and not get into mischief again.
