When trying to rescue the hermit from his cave, John and Roy first have to subdue his tethered dog and move it from the open area in front of the cave to some bushes nearby. Afterward the scene repeatedly returns to the same close-up of the dog barking and snarling at the firemen from its original position.
As Johnny climbs up the light stanchion, he slips and digs his ribs into a wedge in the structure. Later, Dr. Early examines him, and even though Johnny was given a clean bill of health, he should have at least had some bruising on his chest.
On three rescues, an overhead shot shows the units of Station 51 leaving the station. It's clearly the exact same shot as both the engine and the squad vehicle leave the same trails of wash-water behind them (even though in the interior shots there's no indication that the vehicles were at all wet).
After 51 gets the hermit out of the cave, Roy hands the EKG leads first to Marco, then to Chet. As he is handing them to Chet he calls him by his real name saying, "uh, Tim."
When Dixie and another nurse are assisting with the examination of the Hermit, both nurses' shoes are clearly visible. Dixie is wearing pumps with a one and a half inch wedged heel, while the other nurse is wearing the standard white Shoes for Crews type that nurses usually wear. Nurses have to be on their feet for most of their day. Pumps would be very uncomfortable.
Although there are several characters in this episode that have numerous lines of dialogue, the actors & actresses portraying them receive no recognition in the credits. The characters are two Nurses, the Singer, Ceally Kenyon, Joe the Grocer, Jerry the Stock Boy & the Floor Cleaner.
When John is examining the hermit inside of his cave he twice tells Rampart that the patient is unconscious despite the fact the old man (played by 'Pat Buttram') was moving his head and arms.
