Well my guess on what Carol will do ended up being correct. I like how they made it on the show to have her observe the interactions of a family with a dying mother and the husband telling her about how he regrets all the times when he chose work over spending time with his wife. So the speech about the soulmate was the push, in a way it is kind of unfair to Luka whom she promised that he will find somebody who loves him as much as his wife did, because according to the soulmate thing his one is already dead. Her abrupt ride to Seattle was of course cliché and made to create some soap opera drama but it didn't bother me much because we got to see Doug again! I actually didn't expect it. And I was surprised by the fact that I have been missing him and was very excited to see him and Carol together. A good happy ending for this couple.
