A legend is (re)born.

I've always wondered why it took seven years to get an origin story on TV's highest-flying muscle car. But on that basis alone, 'Happy Birthday, General Lee' is as pure as they come. We get answers as to the color choice, the birth of the Dukes' predilection for sweet jumps and why the doors are welded shut (even though that was already covered in the second episode). This isn't perfect; it features the seventh season's unfortunate use of miniatures, and some of the character backstories are iffy (no way Luke was "just getting out of the Marine Corps" with that hair), but it does fill in the gaps on, well, pretty much everything.

But the best thing about this is that it appropriately addresses the fabled status of the General. Plenty of adoring shots of the Charge undergoing its transformation into the mythical beast - and even a few money shots. I'm an easy mark, and when the car comes to life, it is a sight to behold.
