Beyond a Reasonable Doubt
Prismark1027 April 2023
Sergeant Ballard is pleased to have his name in the papers. He arrested Johnny Blaine (Michael Parks) for the arrest of a young woman in a small town.

Blaine claims he only found the body of the dead woman. However he is from the wrong side of the tracks. No one believes him.

The only person who thinks he might be innocent is renowned defence lawyer Bill Darien (Denver Pyle.)

It makes Ballard think again and reinvestigate the case. Maybe he too was biased and fell into small town mentality. Captain Matt Holbrook joins him.

This time they realise that some of the people in the right side of the tracks are hiding something. It might just be that Johnny Blaine was set up. Especially after another young man persuades Johnny to confess.

A good episode. It was a bit of a stretch for the Detectives to end up from the big city to a small town. The director did well to try to being the small town mentality to the screen. The sheriff seems to allow people to waltz in and be in the same cell as Johnny. There is also a scene when Ballard is gauded into a fight.
