Very disturbing episode

Warning: Spoilers
Be prepared for a most different John Wilson. In almost all of the episodes, he is a rather likable friend of Dennis and the Mitchells, the guy you would love to have for a neighbor. Not so in this episode.

Dennis brings home a lost dog, and is disappointed to hear that he cannot keep him. It is a large, shaggy sheep dog, looking much like Ladadog from Please Don't Eat the Daisies. They keep the dog only overnight because the pound is already closed. He howls and barks and wakes up Mr. Wilson, who phones and complains.

The next morning Wilson sees an ad in the paper offering a $100 reward for the return of a lost dog that fits this one's description. He, surprisingly, goes next door and says he has changed his mind and would like to keep the dog, assuring Dennis that he will not take the dog to the pound.

When he finds out that this dog is not the one the lady who offered the reward had lost, he shows no interest in keeping the dog. Since he promised not to take him to the pound, he drives him across town and leaves him.

I was already upset with his character for trying to cheat Dennis out of a reward that he should have, now he is just leaving a dog in a field, not caring if a truck hits him or whatever.

The dog finds his way back to Wilson's. He takes him to another town, and is upset that the dog again finds his way back to Wilson's house.

The dog is affectionate and was quickly trained by Dennis to bring in the paper, sort of.

About the only scene I thought was really funny was when the dog stayed at Wilsons' one night and kept barking, Henry paid John back by calling him about the noisy dog.

This final season seems to have Mr. Wilson mostly a real nice person, but on a couple of occasions he was rather unlikable. Leaving the dog in a field, two times, is not at all the way to get rid of an animal you don't want. Lying to Dennis about wanting the dog, trying to cheat him out of a reward really paints him in a different light.

Next time I go through watching this series, I intend to skip this episode.

This is one of the best of the 4th season episodes of DTM. Seymour is hilarious, and his interactions with John Wilson are priceless.

Sad that a certain poster can't just enjoy it for what it is - enjoyable, funny entertainment. "Disturbing"......sheesh.
