Disillusioned and frustrated Robert Crosgrave (a fine and convincing performance by Grant Shaud) runs a floundering boarding house with his wife Brenda (well played by Megan Leitch). In debt and at the end of his rope, Robert steals both money and the dead man's gun from wealthy boarder Jonathan Barrett (a smooth portrayal by Steve Makaj).

Director Donald Shebib relates the engrossing story at a steady pace as well as maintains a serious tone throughout. Moreover, the smart script not only does a nice job of showing the desperate measures a man will resort to get out of a rut he feels like he's trapped in, but also makes strong dramatic points on how an obsession with money and status can lead someone astray and the bitter price that one must pay when one's greed and vanity get out of hand. The boarders at Crosgrave's establishment are a colorful and entertaining lot. The downbeat ending packs a brutal punch. A worthy show.
