This story centered around the typical problem of the rights of Indians to keep their lands and not surrender them to the encroaching white man. The Wyandot would be eventually evicted from their land and forced to move out west to what was then called the Indian Territory in the 1840s. They would have to wait almost 150 years before they were fully compensated for their ancestral lands by an act of Congress in 1985.
