William Daniels has often played priggish and annoying characters. This is not a criticism--he's a fine actor. It's just that I could imagine him being a villain or a district attorney that argues with Cannon about a case--but really cannot see him playing the sort of guy he played in "Hear No Evil". This isn't a complaint--just an observation that he's stretching himself a bit in this one. Here he plays Dale Corey--an ex-con who went to prison for doing something illegal for some unknown client. It seems that Corey is an electronics expert and bugged some rooms. He was caught but the person behind all this wasn't. Now that he's out of prison and trying to go straight, some folks threaten to set him up in order to violate his parole. So, Corey's wife contacts Cannon. Now the case gets complicated--and the folks you originally think are behind all this aren't. It seems that there is something big--really, really big afoot and if Cannon and Corey aren't careful, there could be a lot of bodies piling up very quickly.
This is a very interesting episode mostly because it seemed very novel. I sure hope as I watch the DVDs for the series that it continues to have such unusual plots and not the typically recycled ones. Stay tuned to find...or not.
