Series creator Joss Whedon provides the (uncredited) voice of the newscaster, his only on-air appearance in the seven year run of the show. He did make one on-screen appearance in the spin-off, Angel (1999).
The name of the demon, Moloch (a traditional Hebrew name for demons), was picked as an Easter egg reference to computer programmers. In C-based languages there is a function named malloc (short for 'Memory Allocate'). Since there are many references to computers and the internet, the name is a fitting call-out.
Jenny Calendar was originally going to be named Nicki, but it was later changed in order to avoid on-set confusion with Nicholas Brendon who was called Nicky.
The title refers to Isaac Asimov's science fiction classic 'I, Robot' and the often repeated but misquoted line, "Me Tarzan, you Jane," from the 1930s series of Tarzan movies.
In the beginning, Buffy is seen first wearing a shirt with a cat on it, then one with a rabbit, and lastly one with a dragon. The computer research lab that she later follows Dave to is called CRD. An acronym for each of the animals on her shirts.
