- Deputy U.S. Marshal Bronco is asked to go with two marshals to Canada to identify a wanted man - his commanding officer in the war. In Canada they meet with the RCMP who help find the man. However, questions arise about his two partners.
- As two men ride through rough country on the way to Bismarck, North Dakota they are ambushed and killed. They are Deputy U.S. Marshals from Austin, Texas sent to extradite a bank robber from Canada. The killers are after the same man but upon reading the dead men's papers they realize someone must report to Bismarck. They decide to take the place of the two deputies by stealing their papers and badges. Bronco reports to U.S. Marshal Shelby in Bismarck. Shelby explains the other two deputies need Bronco's help to return a bank robber who is in Canada for stealing $50,000. The man was Bronco's commanding officer, Dana Powell, during the war and Bronco is the only one of the deputies who can identify him. In Canada they report to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police where they join forces with Corporal Sandy Scott to find Powell. Bronco and Scott sense that something is off with the other two deputies as they hunt for Powell and Bronco decides whether to return with Powell.—rbecker28
