- Jason rides into a town to visit an old friend who stood up for him at his court martial, but he soon learns that his friend has died and his daughter is alone fighting against a town who's being controlled by one man - power hungry Paul Mandell.—Michelle
- In the words of Jason McCord:
I rode into a town to visit an old friend of mine, but realized there was trouble the moment I stepped off my horse. Men were in the newspaper office (The Banner) roughing up the printer and my friends daughter. I chased the two men out with my fists then went to help Ann up. She told me her father had passed away. I was saddened by the news. He had stood up for me at my Court Martial.
Seems there was big trouble, and his name was Paul Mandell. He owned an investment company, and most of the town owed him for something or other. He also owned the freight office, and was trying to get his hands on the newspaper. Ann told me she was ready to sell. Mandell had some political interests in Washington, and he needed the Bulletin to promote him.
Soon, a woman came in and announced that Mandell wanted to see me. He assured me he would get the newspaper. After talking to Ann some more, I learned she had some juicy information on Mandell that could ruin his chances in Washington and his entire reputation. I talked her into staying and printing an article. Somebody had to stop him!
While working, I stopped to give her a kiss. Two men busted in with the intention of stopping our printing. I killed them both. Then I gladly took our first copy over to Mandalls office. He suggested we go outside and fight. He hardly got a punch off of me. I whipped him good and threw him in the trough. Everyone laughed at him. Boy, he sure was ashamed! Ann was able to stay and run her paper. I, on the other hand, had to move on. I had a job waiting for me in Joplin, MO.
