Minkus thinks Mr. Feeny is a great teacher and grossly underpaid. Cory and Shawn think Feeny isn't worth it and that 6th grade never changes. Cory makes some snarky comments in class and Feeny gets miffed at Cory's disrespect when he says Feeny's job isn't that difficult. Feeny proposes a bet. If Cory gets more people to pass he wins, and if he doesn't, Feeny wins. They even throw in one-fifth of Feeny's paycheck and Cory's brad new bike. Meanwhile, Morgan grows attached to Eric's girlfriend Linda, but things get heavy when somebody at the mall calls Linda a derogatory name. We've seen teachers do the bet thing by trading places, but students? I thought it was a creative take on it. I love how this show is able to combine humor with the ethics of life and seriousness. As a kid, you always think being a teacher is easy and being a student is hard. In all honesty, both are very difficult. I thought this one did a fantastic job of exploring this issue. Don't judge a book by it's cover if you don't know the full story. One of my favorite moments in this one is when Mr. Feeny walks in as a student with a baseball cap and a Phillies jersey. The ending is pretty heartwarming as well. Topanga was still in the beginning stages of her character and doesn't have much to do. Shawn has a couple of good moments. Eric's storyline with Linda was pretty powerful. BMW fans have no excuse not to see this episode
Additional Note: Cory teaching in this episode somewhat foreshadows the upcoming series Girl Meets World. He is all grown up, married to Topanga with two children. And ironically enough, he's a teacher in Girl Meets World. It ostensibly premieres in the summer
9.6/10
