Vince Powell would often re-use plots and scenes that he had co-written with Harry Driver in other TV programs that he wrote solo, with only minor tweaks to fit the new characters. Not only did he re-use this plot of an anti car protest, attempting to bribe the Station Sergeant and driving a very expensive car which does not belong to the character which is then impounded by the police, he even kept the title with only one word change for S10 E6 A Car by Any Other Name (1990) of Never the Twain (1981).
