Clay Culhane is the only main character in this episode. His horse is stolen at gunpoint outside Latigo and he traces it to a cabin. A man and his wife and child live here. The child is very sick and at risk of dying. The man is very selfish - only thinking of himself. The woman is a loving wife, willing to risk outlaws to save her daughter.
Clay gets to the cabin in time to keep the man from taking her very sick child. He's raised the girl as his own, but when it comes down to it he has no feelings for the child.
The main "bad" guy in this episode is played by Lee Van Cleef. His character is an interesting one, though his change came a bit too suddenly for me. The ending will leave one questioning what happened next. Our romantic ideals can take over here.
