Kim Stanley is stupendous
RalphMonroe5 March 2011
Do yourself a favor, devote a couple of hours to watching this episode of one of TV's best-ever medical dramas. Making a rare TV appearance, Broadway legend Kim Stanley gives a tour-de-force performance as a heroin-addicted attorney that won her an Emmy Award for Outstanding Single Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role. Way ahead of its time, "A Cardinal Act of Mercy" deals in a frank and realistic way with the dicey double-whammy of white-collar drug abuse and ethics in the medical profession. Intelligently scripted with superb dialog, aided by Sydney Pollack's deft direction and capable support from Glenda Farrell and Gary Crosby. Simply put, a perfect storm.
