This was the series finale. However, there was talk of moving the show to NBC. But by the time the network decided to do it, the Batcave set had been completely demolished and NBC didn't want to spend the money to rebuild it. So they dropped plans for a fourth season.
This was the season finale of the Batman series. However it was not the last time we would see the caped crusaders. Adam West appeared in full costume and part costume on various tv shows throughout the late 60s and 1970s. Adam West and Burt Ward would reprise the roles again in 1977 for The New Adventures of Batman. Then they would appear in two episodes of Legends of the Superheroes (1979). Adam West would appear with Don Adams and Lee Meriwether as part of Lee's Lions, the all crimefighting team on celebrity Family Feud in 1984 and tthen return to voice acting the Dark Knight in 8 episodes of the animated series Superfriends: the legendary super powers show. Then again in 1985 for 8 episodes of The Super Powers Team: Galactic Gaurdians. After Tim Burtons Batman 1989, Adam wouldn't appear again as Batman for quite some time, however he did make a voice acting appearance in Batman: The Animated Series (1992) as The Grey Ghost. Adam West wouldn't reprise the role again until 2002 as a small cameo in The Simpson's. In 2003 Adam, Burt, Meriwether, Newmar, Gorsham would reunite for Return To The Batcave, then a small animated short entitled Batman: New Times in 2005. In 2004 for 11 episodes he would voice The Mayor in The Batman. In 2010 he would appear in voice in Batman: The Brave and Bold as Batmans father Thomas Wayne, then poked some fun at himself and Batman in Family Guy and as Batman in 2015 in various episodes of Robot Chicken. In 2016 he and Burt returned as the original 60s dynamic due in the animated movie Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders then once more in 2017 for Batman vs Two Face.
Zsa Zsa Gabor had earlier been considered for the part of the villainess Marsha, Queen of Diamonds and had also been suggested for Zelda the Great.
Mae West was reported to be considered for the part of Minerva, but was unavailable due to her commitment to Myra Breckenridge.
Minerva and her henchmen--Aphrodite, Apollo, Atlas, and Adonis--take their names from classical mythology. The names of the henchmen all begin with the letter A, and Minerva's namesake, the Roman goddess of wisdom and war, was originally worshiped by the Greeks as Athena.
