Based on a 1965 Batman Comic Book story, in which the villain was The Joker, not The Riddler.
In keeping with the silent movie theme of the story, The Riddler's moll is named "Pauline", as in the famous silent movie serial The Perils of Pauline (1914).
Von Bloheim refers to Batman as "Die Fledermaus," the German word for "bat," and also the title of an operetta by Johann Strauss, Jr.
The names of the Riddler's henchmen C.B. and Von Bloheim are references to the silent film directors Cecil B. DeMille and Erich von Stroheim.
