An absolute gem
searchanddestroy-13 January 2013
Warning: Spoilers
What a wonderful episode, that would have been in a better place in Alfred Hitchcock Presents TV show. See for yourself. Mickey Rooney plays here the only character, shot in only one set, one room, as Jimmy Stewart in REAR WINDOW. The action takes place in this only room on a hot day. An atmosphere already seen before, to make the audience feel the real surroundings of the film. Rooney is outstanding, as usual, playing a sort of professional bettor, always listening radio for the races. He owes a lot of dol to loan sharks. And he learns that he asolutely must pay his debts before 6.00 pm sharp. Not after, if not, he's dead. Period. So begins a terrific and sharp twenty minute sequence where out lead tries to death to call all his friends, in order to collect the dol.

I won't say more about this gem. I repeat, an absolute outstanding little story, a sort of tale we watch too rarely.
