It's No 'Munsters," But You Have To Give It A Hand, Anyway
This was my first look at this 40-plus-year-old TV show in a long time. I saw this episode right after watching a number of "The Munsters" shows, and I found this to be a lot less funny, although it did have some clever dialog. The only annoying aspect was Carolyn Jones' "Morticia" saying "darling" in every sentence.
Anyway, I do have some fond memories of the show and this episode kicks off "The Addams Family Volume 2" DVD which has the second half of season one and the first half of season two, I think.
In this episode, "Thing" has been acting temperamental lately and when he gets insulted even just the slightest from Uncle Fester, he pouts and then disappears. The rest of the family can't figure out what was bothering him in the first place, and now where he's gone.
We get a lot of "hand" jokes with some of them clever, and a funny wedding picture of his parents: just two hands holding each other! Gomez pretends he's a detective and quickly interviews the family but winds up hiring "Sam Diamond."
Not a bad episode, with a lot of good lines.
