The interior set for the Courtney house is the same set that was used for the Post house in Mister Ed (1961). This is very obvious from the entrance, which has the same double entry doors with crossed bars on the lower panels, the quarter-circle stone foyer, and the curved stairs just inside the door.
In the opening scene, as Gomez attempted to demolish a doll house, he added one *final touch* to the chimney, a plastic monster model of King Kong. Available at retail toy stores, it was one of many models designed by Aurora - often featuring Universal horror figures - released during the classic monster revival of the early 1960s.
Abigail's name is likely a reference to Abigail Adams, the second First Lady of the United States.
