Sex & Nudity

Violence & Gore

  • A scene in the beginning of the film depicts a woman and child being shot and killed at point-blank range. The gunman then turns the gun on himself. Although fairly little blood is shown, the scene is quite disturbing.
  • A man gets stuck on a train track and is killed by an oncoming freight train. Some blood is visible, but the scene takes place at night, and it is too dark to see considerable detail.
  • A group of men viciously attack another man and beat him nearly to the point of death.
  • A woman is assaulted in a parking garage, and there is a violent fight scene while she attempts to escape.
  • A group of men are forced to physically restrain a mental patient who had turned violent. The men use clubs to subdue him as he hits and kicks several of them.
  • A young man waves a handgun around a hotel lobby and points it at several people. Security nearly subdues him, but he pushes the guard and another woman over the rail (ostensibly) to their death.
  • Abe shatters a mirror in anger.
  • Abe points a gun at Sherry, but he is shot by police officers. Some blood is visible from the bullet holes.
  • Sherry is in an ambulance is being chased by a malevolent spirit, which eventually takes control of her. The woman then stabs an EMT who is trying to restrain her.

Profanity

  • Very mild profanity.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Early in the film, the main character attempts suicide by consuming a large number of pills and alcohol.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • In numerous instances throughout the movie, ghosts/malevolent spirits appear and, in some cases, cause physical harm to characters. The appearance of these characters is often done through "jump scenes" and they have a zombie-like appearance that would certainly be frightening to children and those bothered by such content generally.
  • The entire film is characterized by an intense investigation into paranormal activity, such as radios/television sets flickering on and off, premonitions about death, ghostly manifestations, and so forth.
  • Abe attempts to force Sherry outside of a building to talk, but she refuses, and Abe is forcibly removed from the hall.
  • Numerous electrical explosions, with sparks, white noise, and other electrical phenomena.
