Now we talking Pirates!
stangler-127 February 2006
Don't want to give it away...so I will only say that when you see this is showing in some sort of festival...go see it! It's awesome! Oh, I need to have ten lines, OK...it is obviously made on the low budge end of the stick. It does suffer from some technical problems (there are times when it sounds like the sound was being recorded in some sort of "cone of silence"), and some of the cast isn't top notch (notably Ruthie, the woman running the bar, comes across a bit cardboard at times) but the energy of the Pirates easily makes up for any other problems. They put in a rocking soundtrack as well. They managed to pack an features worth of fun into a small package. I can only say that I hope the folks that made this short managed to get it made into a full length romp of Pirate fun! I know I'll be keeping my spyglass pointed on the horizon for any future White Sand antics, and I suggest you do the same. Pirates of the White Sand, at least the version I saw, I hear rumors that there is a new "Official Director's Bootleg" in the works, is also fun for the whole family, so don't be scared to bring the kids! So, while this is certainly no "Pirates of the Caribbean," (but I bet if you gave these guys that kind of money, it would be better!) it is definitely something you should go out of you way to see. I've even made my mom watch it!

Warning: Spoilers
Pirates of the White Sand is family friendly, fun filled adventure into the lives of Captain Moab and his crew of scurvy dogs. It is a great film, but what do you expect when you have a bunch of Pirates roving around the southwest hunting for mythical riches buried beneath the hot sand? The film has been edited and smoothed quite a bit from original release. The film's sound track, featuring "All For Me Grog" by Harold's Crash Band, provides just the right amount of energy for the Pirates, without distracting one away from the film itself. The cast obviously loves their roles, as they have an unbelievable amount of energy and charisma that will leave you begging for more. The script, written by Jerry and Philip Seeger, allows for future adventures aboard the Crusader. Look for the "Bootleg Director's Cut" and enjoy this excellent piece of work!
