A Selling Sunset spinoff series is coming, but there will be a major change that will alter everything about the series. That is because the new spinoff series is leaving California. This isn’t the first spinoff to leave the Sunshine State, but it is the first one that leaves the idea of a paradise to live in.
Here is what you need to know about the new Selling Sunset series.
Where Is New Selling Sunset Spinoff Located?
The original Selling Sunset series follows a high-end real estate firm with offices in Los Angeles, West Hollywood, and Newport Beach. The series follows the agents, their families, and their professional lives as they sell properties in the state where it always feels like summer.

Netflix’s Selling franchise, which started with Selling Sunset, is heading to the Big Apple.
The streamer has ordered Selling The City, set in New York City. It is the latest expansion of the property franchise, which has already spawned Selling The Oc and Selling Tampa.
The show is one of a number of new orders at Netflix, which has also greenlit competition series Building The Band and Battle Camp. The shows were revealed by new reality boss Jeff Gaspin, who spoke to Deadline about its overall unscripted strategy.
Selling The City follows agents at real estate brokerage Douglas Elliman as they navigate the cutthroat world of luxury real estate in New York City.
It comes from Adam Divello and his Done and Done Productions, which is behind Selling Sunset and Selling The Oc as well as Selling Tampa. The Hills creator Divello exec produces alongside Skyler Wakil, Chris Cullen and Kris Lindquist.

Lauren Conrad has built her empire: She’s a renowned fashion designer, author and pastel social media legend. But she’s also — and always will be — the girl who didn’t go to Paris. While Conrad may have left the Hollywood Hills to return to her humble waterfront mansion beginnings in Laguna Beach, she left behind a millennial legacy: The Hills. An LA-based MTV spin-off to the reality series Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, the show became a true pop culture phenomenon from 2006 to 2010. It followed a 19-year-old Conrad in her black BMW convertible to the City of Angels where she landed a coveted internship at Teen Vogue. Along with her bestie (later turned-frenemy) Heidi Montag, who would marry Spencer Pratt, The Hills found its best storylines in friendships and work opportunities — along with the dramatic, mascara-running dissolution of Lauren and Heidi’s relationship.

This stark admission casts light on the challenging environment she experienced during her formative years on TV. MTV’s reality show The Hills, a spinoff from Laguna Beach, followed the turbulent lives of young women navigating the entertainment industry and personal relationships. Cast member Lo Bosworth, among others like Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari, faced unique challenges on the set. Bosworth described how they were often put in compromised situations, compelled to compete intensely against each other, much akin to a blood sport just to get through a day of production. Bosworth joined The Hills after Lauren Conrad, her friend from Laguna Beach had established her career there. However, she admits the transition wasn’t smooth. Unlike Laguna Beach,

When “Vanderpump Rules” first premiered on Bravo in 2013, the premise was simple: a selected cast of chaos-makers from Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurant staff at Sur navigated Los Angeles in their twenties. While the base of the series pulled from past reality television renegades like “The Hills,” it proved to be an entirely different ballgame due to the unabashed narcissism and web of relationships present in the cast.
The majority were aspiring actors, living and partying in an era before social media as we know it today had taken off. They spent their days calling out sick to take trips to Vegas, only to have to sit down in a staff meeting the next morning. However, around Season 9 of “Vanderpump Rules,” popularity dwindled. It raised questions about how long the current crew could continue with the same storylines, give or take a Scandoval.

“I’m not a great singer,” Bush said. “If you can’t make it with the lips, make it with the hips. If you’ve never done something that’s a little on the scary side — and this is scary — say yes!”
For Bush, none of the panelists got it right. Robin Thicke guessed Anderson Cooper. Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg picked Seth Meyers. Ken Jeong picked Ryan Seacrest. New panelist Rita Ora said it was Andy Cohen.

Stephen Colletti and Jason Wahler don’t make many public appearances these days. However, the two reality TV stars used to be front and center in pop culture. Laguna Beach and The Hills fans know them from their embattled relationships with Lauren Conrad. Others may recognize them for their forays into acting (Colletti) and public battle with addiction (Wahler).

“The Masked Singer” season 11 debuted another quartet of contestants on March 20. Of these new contenders for the Golden Mask, our favorite is the one disguised as Poodle Moth. She won over the crowd and the judges with her cover of the Billy Joel classic “Just the Way You Are.”
We’ve been rewatching that performance and her clues video. While we think that Poodle Moth is a professional singer we don’t agree with the judges that it is Wynonna Judd, Rita Wilson or Trisha Yearwood. Keep reading for all your “The Masked Singer” spoilers including the answer to the question, “Who is Poodle Moth”?
We are convinced that Poodle Moth is Chrissy Metz. Although best known for her starring role in the TV drama “This Is Us,” Metz is also a talented singer, focusing on inspirational music.

Vanderpump Rules hasn’t been good in years, so launching The Valley out of the latest episode of the Bravo series was always going to come with some caveats.
The transition between the two shows was seamless, and Vpr having one of its best episodes of the season should have helped keep viewers invested.
Sadly, The Valley’s series premiere was a convoluted mess, complete with forced storylines that would give The Hills a run for its money.
We were hastily introduced to the plethora of cast members without much context. There are far too many people on the cast to form much of a connection within one episode.
It’s bad times when the only people bringing it to the premiere are Jax Taylor, Brittany Cartwright, and Kristen Doute. In hindsight, maybe getting those three back was actually a good idea.

I’ve always felt that the 1979 horror film Tourist Trap (watch it Here) deserves a lot more respect and attention than it gets – and that star Chuck Connors (best known for The Rifleman) deserved the “genre icon” career he was aiming for when he signed on for the movie. Barbara Crampton is someone who did achieve a genre icon career, and she clearly believes there was something great going on with Tourist Trap, because our friends at Bloody Disgusting have learned that she is producing a remake of the film!
Crampton is the Vice President of Production & Development at Alliance Media Partners, and the company has just acquired the rights to make a new version of Tourist Trap. Crampton will be producing the film alongside Bob Portal, who is Amp’s Managing Director & Head of Production.
Produced by Full Moon founder Charles Band, the original Tourist Trap stars Connors as Mr.

It never gets easier to look up the horrors of what real life humans are willing to perpetrate but some of them are harder than others. Looking into the purported Scottish myth that inspired The Hills Have Eyes for example is a whole heck of a lot easier to do than find out the absolutely abysmal crimes that were committed against a young girl in The Girl Next Door. Sadly, today’s movie The Snowtown Murders, a.k.a. Snowtown (watch it Here), is a lot closer to the sickening facts that happened to The Girl Next Door. While Australia already got our notorious spotlight shined on the fictional Mick Taylor who was a composite of two backpack killers, today we will look at the man who is known as the country’s worst serial killer and unpack what he did and who with. A year ago, Vanderpump Rules was headed for cancellation.
Now, the series is back on the air with stronger ratings than ever, and a Jax Taylor-led spinoff is in the works.
We can thank Scandoval for that.
Through two episodes, Vanderpump Rules Season 11 is an over-produced mess.
Yes, the show has always had a scripted feel, but the show has morphed into The Hills at this stage.
None of the storylines are interesting, and producers are clearly driving them to keep things fresh and exciting.

“F–k her. It’s not her story to tell,” Jeff said on the Smoochie Town podcast.
“I had experiences with you that I didn’t go tell everyone,” Jeff continued. “Those were also my experiences when you were f–king off with all these other people.”
Kristin recalled on her Let’s Be Honest podcast in October that she met up with an unnamed ex-boyfriend, who was arrested for a hit-and-run in the middle of their meetup. Although Kristin didn’t name Jeff,...

Given how outlandish and enormous the "Fast & Furious" film series would eventually become, it's a little mind-boggling to remember that Rob Cohen's 2001 original, "The Fast and the Furious," was little more than a mid-budget "Point Break" knockoff. The story goes that star Paul Walker, having enjoyed working with Cohen on the 2000 college thriller "The Skulls" was asked what his dream action project would be. Walker said that he wanted to appear in an action movie mashup of "Days of Thunder" and "Donnie Brasco." That is: something with fast cars, but also a cop who goes undercover to infiltrate the criminal underground. The subsequent screenplay, written by Gary Scott Thompson, drew inspiration from a 1998 article in Vibe Magazine all about the New York underground racing scene. David Ayer was brought in to work on a draft, and he changed the setting to Los Angeles and made the cast more diverse.

Glossier is poised to get the TV treatment.
Amazon MGM Studios proved triumphant in what was the industry’s latest IP bidding war, this one for the rights to adapt Glossy, about the millennium beauty brand and its female founder Emily Weiss. The book, from journalist and author Marisa Meltzer, became an instant New York Times best seller when it was released in early September. Per multiple sources, Pet Sematary’s Lindsey Anderson Beer and her production company Lab Brew are attached to produce what’s expected to be an ongoing series at the streaming service, should it move forward.
As The New York Times Book Review described Meltzer’s roughly 300-page book, Glossy is “a compulsively readable narrative of beauty, business, privilege, and mogul-dom.” It goes inside the beauty company that built a cult-like following for must-have products with names like “Balm dotcom” and “Boy Brow” – and changed the...

[This story contains spoilers for Reptile.]
In the two weeks since its release, Grant Singer’s Reptile has remained atop Netflix’s own film charts with 19.9 million views and counting. The Benicio Del Toro-led crime thriller is Singer’s feature directorial debut after nearly a decade of making inventive music videos for the likes of The Weeknd, Lorde and Ariana Grande. The film centers around Del Toro’s Detective Tom Nichols, as he investigates the murder of a real estate agent (Matilda Lutz) and uncovers a tangled web of corruption within his new community in Maine.
At a time when crime dramas and murder mysteries are still immensely popular, especially on Netflix, Singer, along with his co-writers Benjamin Brewer and Del Toro himself, knew that they had to work overtime to keep viewers on their toes.
“Audiences now are very advanced in their understanding of these stories because there have been so many great crime...

Updated: In another sign that shows — even famous ones — can no longer “live forever” on streaming in the new era of media companies re-prioritizing profits, a slew of titles will be leaving Disney-controlled Hulu in the coming days as their license deals expire. For now, there are no plans to renew any of the pacts but that is always a possibility in the future.
‘Arrested Development’ and ‘Bob Newhart Show’
The list of departing series includes 18 series from Disney’s 20th Television, including the David E. Kelley Emmy-winning legal shows Ally McBeal, which the studio had been looking to remake, and The Practice, as well as fellow award-winners The Bob Newhart Show, Hill Street Blues and Arrested Development.
A slew of catalog titles from Fox and Paramount also are impacted, as well as a couple of properties each from Nat Geo and NBC News. Update: The license agreements for several...

Disney CEO Bob Iger may be neck-deep in negotiations with the Writers Guild of America (WGA) this week, but his employees at Hulu continue to have an eye on saving the company money on his behalf. A new report from Vulture indicates that a large swath of classic TV series are leaving Hulu at the end of this month, including some shows that fans of ’90s TV will recognize instantly.
The good news in this latest round of cuts from Hulu is that it appears to be isolated to these shows, at least for now. Vulture reports that unlike content removals which occurred earlier this summer for Disney streamers, this latest batch is not intended as part of larger cost-cutting measures intended to bring immediate relief to the bottom line; rather, the shows being removed are coming to the end of their licensing agreements, and Disney has simply decided to...

The phrase “15 minutes of fame” simply doesn’t apply to Spencer and Heidi Pratt, the husband-and-wife reality star duo better known as “Speidi” since they began dating during the second season of the Laguna Beach spinoff The Hills. Since those early 2000s MTV reality docuseries days, the couple, who eloped in Mexico on Nov. 20, 2008, has appeared on various reality TV shows and competitions, from Celebrity Big Brother seasons 11 and 19 to Celebrity Wife Swap, Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars 2, and the short-lived spinoff The Hills: New Beginnings. There was an even shorter music career for Heidi who released her debut studio album, Superficial, in 2010.
Never ones to take themselves as seriously as their quest for fame, Heidi and Spencer recently launched a pop culture video podcast with The Ringer Podcast Network, a Spotify Studio. Appropriately titled Speidi’s 16th Minute, the podcast delves into celebrity gossip, the behind-the-scenes realities of creating...

The “House of Villains” is going to get a little more crowded, with several more iconic reality TV baddies making guest appearances.

It took just 11 words to forever alter the history of reality television: "I want to forgive you, and I want to forget you."
Fans of The Hills will never forget Lauren Conrad's takedown of former best friend Heidi Montag, who — along with her then-boyfriend Spencer Pratt — was accused of spreading rumors about a sex tape between Lauren and Jason Wahler. But looking back, the mic-drop line overshadowed just how composed Lauren remained throughout their emotional conversation as she pressed Heidi to admit Spencer was behind the rumors, and when that failed, to recognize how much pain they caused her. Whether or not she was coached by a producer, Lauren's poise in that moment reflected the manicured nature of MTV's The Hills, which built upon Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County's soapy reputation with its manufactured storylines and relationships.

Lisa Vanderpump says that she’s “very happy with what I’ve been paid over the years” and that she’s “not sure” about how a union can represent “people that are normally plucked out of obscurity.”
The Vanderpump Rules star and executive producer shared her opinion, weighing in on the Bethenny Frankel-sparked effort to unionize reality TV, during the most recent episode of Los Angeles Times’ The Envelope podcast, which released on Thursday.
“I’ve been a producer now for 11 years. I’m thankful to the network, thankful for the opportunities and chances that they’ve given me,” Vanderpump said. “So, I don’t know, advocating for a reality star union. I’m not sure about that. I’m really not.”

Over the course of 10 seasons, Bravo’s “Vanderpump Rules” has evolved into something no one could possibly have imagined when it premiered in 2013. A chronicle of the personal lives of restauranteur (and “Real Housewife“) Lisa Vanderpump’s young employees, the series is not only the first truly great work of art to emerge from the reality TV genre but one of the most involving and expertly assembled shows on television, period. What began as a soapy account of attractive 20somethings trying to make it in Hollywood (a sort of mashup between the “Real Housewives” franchise and MTV’s “The Hills”) has become a layered, poignant meditation on what it means to grow up, acquiring the breadth and depth of a great novel without abandoning its fizzy pop surface.

After Real Housewives star Bethenny Frankel called for reality performers to also stop working amid the writers and actors strikes to protest their own treatment and lack of residuals, SAG-AFTRA is stepping up to offer its help.
The conversation started when Frankel posted a video to her Instagram on July 19 asking, “Why isn’t reality TV on strike?” The reality star and entrepreneur said she had only been paid $7,250 for her “first season of reality TV,” and claimed she had “never made a single residual” from her time on various reality series as an onscreen talent. She said, “Either I’m missing something or we’re getting screwed, too.”
She then called for reality stars to stop filming “until their free content is [taken] down,” arguing that networks and streamers shouldn’t be able to continue profiting from stars without acknowledging the cultural and financial impact of series like The Hills,...

Both of Deschanel's children are from her second marriage to film producer Jacob Pechenik; they married in 2015 and separated in 2019. While the show, its spin-offs, and various other reality TV shows did give her fame, Patridge had a life far from mundane outside of reality TV. She is the daughter of Lynn Patridge and Mark Patridge — both of whom are TV personalities now, thanks to Audrina. Former Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel is questioning why reality TV hasn’t unionized just a week into the WGA and SAG-AFTRA double strike, and as networks have pivoted to reality TV to support their fall schedules.
“Hollywood is on strike, entertainers are fighting for residuals and no one will promote anything. Why isn’t reality TV on strike?” asked Frankel, who starred in eight seasons of the Bravo reality franchise before exiting in 2019. “During the last writers strike, we were providing all the entertainment, and that’s really when the gold rush of reality TV started.”
In a video posted to her Instagram on Wednesday (below), the Big Shot With Bethenny producer revealed that she was only paid $7,250 for her “first season of reality TV,” before calling for reality stars to stop filming “until their free content is [taken] down.” Frankel says networks and streamers shouldn’t...

Bethenny Frankel, best known for starring on eight seasons of Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of New York City,” is urging her fellow reality stars to follow in the steps of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA and go on strike.
“Anyone shooting a Bravo show should not be shooting until they get paid residuals for all the other episodes they’ve ever done or those episodes should be taken down. Reality stars should go on strike,” Frankel said on TikTok.
Frankel first appeared on “The Apprentice: Martha Stewart,” a season that saw her become one of two finalists. Three years later, she became one of the subjects of “The Real Housewives of New York City,” starting with the series from its launch.
