A movie about a donut
dschapin-13 April 2006
This film is about a man, a man and his donut....

I pray for the soul who gets between him and his plain donut!

Shot in the Milwaukee area, and using local talent, the Magnificent Donut recently won Best Wisconsin Dramatic Short at the Wisconsin Film Festival, does it represent a quiet small town vibe that exists in Wisconsin, or suggest that pretty doesn't equal delicious?

You decide for yourself, the cafe Cranky Al & Mrs. Java's Bakery, Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA actually exists and Crazy Al is easily the craziest donut baker I have seen in these parts.

Best Wisconsin Dramatic Short (Kodak Film Stock Grant) THE MAGNIFICENT DONUT director: Karen Lindholm-Rynkiewicz

A pleasant tale with excellent production value

Lindholm is at home with a short tale performed by great local talent. In this short, marked by its high production value, we meet characters you'll know from home. Very worth the time it takes to view. Memorable. This film was produced on a shoestring in 3 days at a local donut shop. For the sake of honesty, I was the set photographer on the project. During production, I was impressed with the entire crew, none of who had all been on the same film before, as they worked together in a very professional manner. Each knew their job and performed it without nagging, coaching or lessons. Paul Helm, the lead actor, is a pro. Performing local shows in local theater groups, his experience guided everyone to a higher ground. Personally, after watching Karen direct, I wonder why she hasn't had her "break" yet... she should be making full-length features.
