This movie is one of my top three favorite bodyboarding films, along with Scotty Carter's "Enough Said", and "No Friends" episode 1. I can't place them in any particular order because they have all influenced my life in different ways. "killer days" has so many segments that stick out in my mind...the initial monologue, where I believe it's Lanson Ronquillo, performs one of the first aireal maneuvers where the rider rotates and pivots around a central apex, doing a sort of air reverse into front flip, which was one of the most amazing things I had seen performed on a wave up until that point and for many years after. The Wiamea river segment prompted me and my friends to go and dig out any backed up river we could find. The Sandy beach segment was the first time I had seen footage of it and I was completely awe struck. To this day, when ever I go to Hawaii so many things I see and experience, remind me of this film. I guess you could say that, killer days was my first trip to Hawaii. Ben Severson's segment at a "secret" spot, which I just recently learned was at panics, was unbelievable perfect, and for some time was my quintessential dream wave. Of course it was all wrapped up neatly by the "surfin" song during the credits. Listening to that song and seeing all of the people having a blast, playing in the ocean, made me really want to push my riding and go to Hawaii and experience it for myself. I did, and I have, and because of this movie, Hawaii never felt strange or foreign to me...it felt very familiar even on my first trip over a decade ago. I still would love to get a copy of both the movie and that final song, which I believe was performed by Tom's brother, or something. Once again, this is a must see for any bodyboarder or anyone who would like to see the sport come into it's own during this time period.
