One of the things that we need to talk about is why, as horror fans, are we so damn obsessed with the 1980′s. There are plenty of decades that have just as many credible horror flicks as the 80′s. Hell, there may be a decade in there that surpasses the 80′s in volume of fan loved films (no… Yes!). What’s the reason for our fetish? What’s the obsession? Why do we pounce on the Blu Ray release of movies we still own VHS copies (and cling to the old format lovingly)? Well, it’s the same reason you’re going to find Girls Gone Dead entertaining. The tag line: Just When You Thought It Was Safe to Go Topless. My initial impression: No one wants to see these man boobs (moobs), but I can pretend I’m seventeen again and let the nips fall where they may. That...

Directors Michael Hoffman Jr. (Spring Break Massacre) & Aaron T. Wells have been pretty tight lipped about the upcoming Girls Gone Dead. From what I gather expect something that is a cross between American Pie & The Slumber Party Massacre. In fact, the new poster for Girls Gone Dead pays tribute to The Slumber Party Massacre if you pay careful attention to how the bodies of the film's potential victims are placed in this poster image. In fact, this poster image is the first bit of news to come out about Girls Gone Dead in some time. So for the meantime enjoy this poster and a plot synopsis (down below, after the jump) for Girls Gone Dead until we can find out some more info about this film later on.
In Girls Gone Dead, Rebecca, a beautiful young woman coming into her own, has been raised in a sheltered religious environment by her overbearing mother.

"Girls Gone Dead"
The film which is set to start filming on November 13 is genre director Michael Hoffman Jr.'s (Spring Break Massacre) most ambitious undertaking with a five week shooting schedule and a budget of roughly around $500,000. Helping him with this endeavor is Aaron Wells (Rock and a Hard Place: Another Night at the Agora) who will share co-directing credit and Ryan Dee who is on board as the film's producer.
Girls Gone Dead features a cast including hottie Caley Hayes (who ironically played the hottie in "Sex Drive"), sizzling Penthouse Pet Ryan Keely (seen on this year's MTV movie awards in a fake commercial for "Devil" alongside M. Night Shyamalan) internet sensation Shawn C. Phillips (President's Day) and the hardest working man in indie horror,...

So who is Meghan Jones? She might not be a name genre fans are familiar with right off the bat, but if you dig those "The Slumber Party Massacre" or "Sorority House Massacre" or heck even "Hard to Die" type of films that came out in the 80's, then you need to start studying up on who this promising writer is. An admirable quality to the films that she co-wrote and co-produced with her hubby, Michael Hoffman Jr., including Spring Break Massacre and Sigma Die was an innate quality to pay homage to the era of those films without being too overly jokey jokey, but still retain a sense of humor that in essence recalled the era of the teen sex comedy and some of those USA Up All Night films, but still managing to keep slasher sensibilities intact. Her ability to weave different types of styles, genres and to...

Over here at Big Daddy Horror Reviews, we would like to extend a celebratory toast to producing, writing partners Meghan Jones and Michael Hoffman Jr., the team behind such immortal classics as Spring Break Massacre, Rot: Reunion of Terror and Sigma Die! We would like to wish you the best of luck with your upcoming nuptials in Las Vegas on Halloween night. The two have shown a knack for putting together films that are amusing little homages to the horror films of the 80's.
With Spring Break Massacre (starring Linnea Quigley and Reggie Bannister in their only on screen appearance together), they paid tribute with an amusingly clever little take on The Slumber Party Massacre. Rot: Reunion of Terror packed one heck of a wallop with a surprising twist ending as it paid homage to Prom Night with a dash of Happy Birthday To Me thrown in. And Sigma Die!

Micahel Hoffman is an up and coming director in the horror genre. After catching Spring Break Massacre and Rot: Reunion of Terror he has shown that his films can be very pointed and focused. He is a director that has the potential to have a clear point of view in the genre and his own distinctive voice all while under the age of 30, which hopefully he won't stray away from. As us genre fans know, some directors go there entire career (Steve Miner anyone?) without finding their point of view or voice. Between the films, even though they are stand alone films with different storylines and aren't connected in any way between each other, there is a cohesion of style and themes and feel unqiuely like the work of Michael Hoffman. So kudos to this up and coming talent!

Michael Hoffman is a bright up and coming presence in the horror community who directs amusing homages in the horror genre. He is also heading a DVD distribution label that has plans to make President's Day its first release. However, he also has plans to release some of the lesser known titles of the genre along with some camp classics. His most well known title to date is Spring Break Massacre starring Reggie Bannister and Linnea Quigley in their only on screen role to date. Rumors are running rampant that there will either be a sequel to this film or a remake to it with Hoffman behind the director's chair yet again. Here's what he had to say about his career to date:
So you've been directing entertaining homages to the horror genre for the past 9 years, what made you want to get into directing?
You know, I'm not really sure.

Blood, breasts and everything in between will be available to fans tomorrow courtesy of E1 Entertainment (not for the squeamish). A trailer for the Spring Break Massacre is below.

Debbie Rochon, often described as a scream queen herself, wrote in an article originally published in Gc Magazine that "a true Scream Queen isn't The Perfect Woman. She's sexy, seductive, but most importantly 'attainable' to the average guy. Or so it would seem." Nastassja Kinski Films: To the Devil a Daughter (1976) [1] Cat People (1982) [2] The Day the World Ended (2001) [3] Inland Empire (2006) [4] Kinski will always be remembered for the iconic photograph shot by Richard Avedon (with a snake coiled around her body) and her role in Paul Schrader's (not so good) remake of Cat People. Needless to say, it was a hit at the box office and Kinski deservingly received a Saturn Award for Best Actress. Caroline Munro Films: The Abominable Dr. Phibes (1971) [5] Dr. Phibes Rises Again (1972) [6] Dracula A.D. 1972 [7] Maniac (1980) [8] Faceless (1987) [9] Demons 6 (1989) [10] Caroline Munro seduced audiences in her Hammer roles in films like Dracula A.D. 1972, but for gore hounds,...
