Director Andy Nguyen filmed this picture with absolutely no film permits. He applied over a span of four years, but was denied by the Communist Party of Vietnam. In frustration, Andy flew to Vietnam without permits and produced the entire film within a two week span.
Director Andy Nguyen had an extremely hard time casting the role of the Elder Monk. His father volunteered, but he was declared too "fat" for the role.
The sound for the film was completely created in the studios and cued to every frame.
In editing the film, Andy Nguyen resided at the studio trying to get every frame right for 7 straight days.
In the temple scene, the blue light that glows in the back is called "regime". The cast and crew waited 4 hours for this 15 minute span to create a natural aura of the dimming sky.
