Sex & Nudity

  • During a scene where the police stumble upon the Cthulu cult you see a brief glimpse of a woman's bare breasts are visible.
  • The cultists all dance around a fire. Most of the men are shirtless and the women are scantily clad wearing outfits that reveal cleavage, midriffs, and a lot of leg.

Violence & Gore

  • Very mild. A few punches are thrown and some cultists are hit with clubs or shot with no blood. The movie is done as a black and white silent film. There are a few glimpses of some half eaten corpses. A sailor finds a severed finger in a box, the finger is seen again later. A man falls to his death. A number of men fall behind when Cthulhu emerges and are presumed to have been killed by him. A man is seen dead with blood coming from his eyes. It is unclear how he died, but implied he was frightened to death.

Profanity

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Some men are at a party drinking.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The film is about as scary as your average black and white horror movie. The atmosphere in the film however is very dark and brooding. The film is based on a scary story by H.P. Lovecraft. There are references to cannibalism, cult worship, madness, and ancient demon gods that ruled the world before mankind. When Cthulhu finally he appears he is animated much like claymation and isn't very frightening. The plot also involves everyone who investigates Cthulhu as having gone insane from the horror and eventually dying.
