Classic South African style

An entertaining, enjoyable movie throughout. There are some cheap humour moments, however the style and storyline make up for it.

Mama Jack

As an old Leon Schuster fan I couldn't wait the other day to go and get the DVD to watch at home. My personal opinion is that I find the movie Mama Jack absolutely brilliant like all previous movies of Leon Schuster, Iv'e watched it twice in one day and will watch it again. I hope there is still many to come over the next few years because no one compete against Schuster. People that say this is only a good movie due to that nice actress must go back and watch the whole movie. She is very nice indeed and plays a good role, but without Schuster it just wouldn't be the same. I'm 25 years of age now and can still remember nagging my dad as a youngster to take me to the cinema as soon as there's a movie of Schuster. Special thanks to Leon for being a great comedian in South Africa.

Regards

Boring, almost unoriginal but some really funny parts - but give it a go.

Myself and my best friend had a choice at the movies, Transporter 2 or MamaJack (Yes we are a bit behind the rest of the world) So we decided to watch the Leon Schuster movie, this would be the first time we had actually paid to watch one of his movies, his previous hit Mr Bones did have a lot of things going for it but it fell flat in places, and i don't even want to start on his diabolical "Oh Schuks, I'm Gatvol" (the Iraq references were plain embarrassing) So we sat down with a neutral feeling, from the beginning of the movie the pace is slow and at one point turned to Clinton and told him that if the movie does not get better that we would get up and leave. Thats when the lovely Mary-Ann Barlow walked on screen, as great fans of her we immediately sat up and started taking notice (great bath scene!!!!) I guess due to her we started to relax more and gave the movie a chance, and i must admit that even after a slow start we walked out smiling.

This movie is unique in that it captures the humor that all South Africans have around them, even though we come from a dark past we all have something to smile and laugh about. To be honest this movie is funnier than Big Mammas House in places but fails to capture the emotion of Mrs Doubtfire, you will definitely laugh at places and i'm sure most people would love to come and experience the beauty of South Africa first hand. There are some really funny moments & its not too emotionally sloppy and this saves the movie from being a bad combo of Mrs Doubtfire/Big Mammas House.

This is a nice family movie to relax with and its really one of the better movies to come out of South Africa.

Overall . this movie receives a 7 out of 10 because of the lovely Mary-Ann Barlow, she is definitely one of the sexiest women in South Africa!

Really funny South African film

----------------- Schuster is back - as Mama Jack! This star-studded, hysterical film fueled by Schuster's comedic mayhem navigates the world of film.

Jack Theron is a grip for the film industry. While working on a film about Madiba, John, the American director takes such a dislike to Jack that he spikes his drink at a high-profile function. As a result, Jack unwittingly offends all the dignitaries, ruins the function, and is now on the run from the police.

In desperation, he turns to his make-up artist friend, Shorty, for help and emerges as the big, busty, and black, Mama Jack. Through a series of evasive tactics, Mama is soon employed by the producer's fiancée and falls in love with her.

A series of deceptions and misunderstandings ensue with predictable hilarity.

Mama Jack has got to be one of the funniest films I have seen, especially since it has personal appeal to me (seeing as I live in South Africa).

It is an enjoyable family movie, yet it contains humor/references that will only be found funny by people who have been around a bit longer...

Although English subtitles are provided for all of the snippets of Afrikaans & Xhosa that are spoken/heard during the movie, a lot of the humor will be lost on someone that has got no idea concerning the South African background against which this is set. However, there is enough movie to stir everyone up to enjoy a good laugh.

Go see this movie, expect a comical, slightly predictable, very funny movie, and you won't be disappointed!
