Very good...and like most good shorts, I had me wanting more.

This short film is only about 14 minutes long and it took on an impossibly large subject that never could have been fully explored in this time frame--divorce and its impact on the kids. This is not really a complaint, as the film makers crammed a lot into BETSY and managed to create a movie that is thought-provoking and would make an excellent discussion film for kids struggling with their parents' divorce.

Exactly why Mom and Dad got a divorce and the details of their marriage aren't explored in this movie. Instead, you just see two kids (one a teen and the other about 8) on their way by cab to see Dad. The youngest is excited but her older sister, Betsy, is clearly nervous about this. It seems this is their first trip to see him since the divorce. It obviously has been some time since Dad's house is fully furnished and he already has a new live-in girlfriend. How Betsy copes, or rather DOESN'T COPE is the subject of this film.

The writing and acting are actually exceptionally well done for such a small project. In fact, the film was so well done that I found myself wanting to see more--they were doing such a great job when the film rather abruptly ended.
