Bimil or Secret is a Year 2000 Korean TV drama with a young cast who all went on to greater success after this series aired.

The plot of SECRET contains many, well, secrets. There is a plain but kind sister and a beautiful but deceitful sister who both like the same wealthy young man. They live with only their father because their mother abandoned them to live overseas when they were very young. The abandoned family does simple dress making/selling. Along comes a successful lady designer for a big fashion show in Korea. Might this lady be the sister's long lost mother? Might the wealthy young man be the son of the successful designer lady? The father/abandoned husband has a bad accident... what will happen?

The IMDb is the only place I found that spells SECRET as PIMIL and not BIMIL. Korean translation is more of an art than a science. For example, SECRET is currently being shown with English subtitles on the AZN cable channel in the USA, and while some Koreans spell one of the sister's names as Zhi En, the AZN subtitles spell the name Ji-Eun. Most every name is spelled slightly different.

Anyway, SECRET is a romance/family drama. If ROOFTOP ROOM CAT is a perfect 10 K-drama, and PRINCE'S FIRST LOVE (Hwangtaejaui Cheotsarang) is a good 8.5 K-drama, then SECRET is an OK 6.5.

since i don't speak a word of korean (hooray for subtitles), i didn't even know the title of this show for around the first three or four episodes i saw. i found the characters interesting and somewhat humorous though, so i just kept watching. the show itself has a little bit of everything mixed in (drama, comedy, romance, etc.), and all of the actors/actresses did a great job adapting to the different moods from scene to scene. its a little slow and cheesy at times, however, so don't be surprised if you find yourself dozing off every once in a while...just be sure to stay awake.

highly recommended, but don't forget the caffeinated beverages for the slower parts. the two sisters are quite attractive as well :)
