Very Effective

A great documentary for fans not only of Native American culture but of music in general. Shanondoah has a wonderful presence, and her reactions to the Grammys (both her nomination and her eventual loss) are so subtle that they are heartbreaking for the audience. It is interesting to note that the group she loses to sings war chants, exactly what native American music is stereotyped to be. I don't know this group, but Joanne's voice is just so beautiful. I also love the scene with wolves in the snow.

On the whole, a great documentary. The best documentary about musicians and cultural music, however, will always be Buena Vista Social Club.
