Wonderful documentary

Warning: Spoilers
A lot of people don't realize this but "Silence Of The Lambs" was NOT the first movie to feature Hannibal Lector. Five years before SOTL Manhunter was released starring Brian Cox as the evil doctor with a taste for liver and fava beans. In a way, Cox was just as chilling as Anthony Hopkins was. This documentary features interviews with William Petersen who played FBI agent Will Graham, Joan Allen who played the blind victim, Cox and Tom Noonan who was the villian Francis Dolarhyde. This is a fascinating bit of film with these four fine actors who along with director Michael Mann created a classic movie that deserves to be alongside Silence Of The Lambs.

Inside 'Manhunter' (2001)

*** (out of 4)

Actors William Petersen, Brian Cox, Joan Allen and Tom Noonan are interviewed in this 17 minute featurette that was on the original Anchor Bay release of MANHUNTER. Various subjects are covered including the casting, shooting the movie, working with director Michael Mann and the film's release. If you're a fan of MANHUNTER then you'll certainly enjoy hearing these stories, although at just seventeen minutes the featurette does feel a bit rushed. The highlight is the stuff dealing with Mann's intensity, which makes it sound like he was just a few notes shy of being like Stanley Kubrick. All four actors do a very good job telling their stories and they certainly come across very entertaining. It's also nice getting to hear the actors talk about the film after the success of THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS.
