wonderful series to teach ASL and communicate with your infants
imdb-85922 August 2005
I do not know ASL but always found it fascinating. When I was pregnant I read a few articles about the benefits of signing with infants. I ordered the Signing Time vol 1-3 series when my daughter was 9 months old (I wish I would have started sooner!) and she LOVED them. What's even better is I LOVED them too!! I ordered Vol 4-6 as soon as they were released. They were perfect for us. Vol 4-6 was just a little bit more advanced and gave my daughter exactly what she was ready for. I still do not know ASL, but I'm rapidly expanding my vocabulary. The signs are presented in a manner so they are easily learned by children of all ages! Rachel Coleman and her family (Emily, Leah, Alex, etc) are so talented!

Phenomenal!

Signing Time is so wonderful for teaching my children (and me!) American Sign Language! This series is phenomenal. You won't find a better signing media anywhere! My 2 year old daughter loves the entire series and can sign every single sign taught in all 6 volumes. She began signing at 10 months of age and hasn't stopped since. Signing has been such a blessing to our family, even though none of our family members are deaf. Signing with an infant and toddler is so helpful reducing frustration since it allows the child to be able to communicate his/her wants and needs in a way that they would not be able to without sign language. We absolutely love signing time!

Wonderful Communication Tool for ALL Children!
ameyer-93 August 2005
This is an excellent video, warm and engaging and full of fun for children of all ages. Not only is it entertaining, it is also educational! Imagine my delight when my non-verbal 10 month old nephew could bypass the usual temper tantrum in favor of a simple, easy-to-understand sign! Add to that my speech delayed, potentially deaf daughter who could prove to the world she was NOT brain damaged by communicating wonderfully in a recognized language before she was 2! The kids love this video and have soaked up the signs taught. They are able to communicate with each other, with their parents, and with other children who use sign language. The story behind the videos, shared by the creator at the end, is a wonderful testimony to the strength of the human spirit. Please check out this video, as well as the others in the series, if you want to teach your children to communicate with you even when words fail them!

Signing Time are a wonderful way to learn ASL for earlier communication with your children.

All of the Signing Time DVD's not just volume 4 are amazing resource for teaching ASL exposing families to a second language. It is energetic and hold children's attention. They not only are entertaining for children, but I have enjoyed learning ASL with my children through these DVD's. There are currently 6 volumes in the series with more in production. We have had Signing Time in our home for 3 years and can't wait for more. In Volume 4 Family, Feelings,Fun it teaches signs for Extended family as well as the signs for Feelings which help my 4 year old understand and communicate with us what she is feeling. Signing Time is asked for daily in our home daily. My children enjoy the music as well as learning. I have a 1 and 4 year old. I highly recommend them to everyone with children.
