Entertaining enough, but needs some more put into it.
Mightyzebra29 December 2007
This could probably be a better TV series if the following things were not true about the series:

1. The animation is surprisingly dreadful. It looks as if the animators had no lessons and while you watch this TV series you are likely to think they had better go to animation class. 2. The plots are a little unoriginal and are pretty likely to bore you after a while. 3. Bernie is a little irritating. Luckily, the concept is at least funny and entertaining of Corniel and he is quite a likable character (his accent definitely deserves some credit). Also, this is a good show for preteens or quite old children.

All in all, a likable, quite funny show, but not the best. ? Enjoy "Watch My Chops"/"Corniel et Bernie"/"Corniel and Bernie".

Lively, colourful and comical
davidhicks-122 June 2005
Hi-tech colourful animation , at first I thought this would just be another usual animation that becomes boring after a while, but I was wrong, you watch the first few episodes and they seem alright, but then they become really good when you get to episodes like "jungle panic" and "close encounter of the alien kind". They are so funny. This animation is definitely worth watching. I have seen every episode in series 1 and 2 and I hope series 3 (if there is one) will be as just as good as the first 2. I would give it a well deserved 10/10. One of the best episodes is "close encounter of the alien kind", in this episode Berney (dogsitter and reject at school) gets made fun of for believing that aliens exist, to get his own back on Romeo (popular kid at school) who makes fun of him, he makes Corniel (talking dog) to pretend hes and alien and because Corniel is so smart he comes up with this hilarious disguise, at the end of the show Moulder and Scully come on at the end. It's so funny!

I love this cartoon
ldykas27 June 2006
I was very impressed with this cartoon. I love the style, art design, the colors, the characters. The stories are funny and entertaining. I agree that there should be more new episodes. The age group for this cartoon is supposed to be between 6-10 years old. Well, I am 36 and I find watching cartoons like Corneil and Bernie relaxing. Another great feature of this cartoon is the music. The voice talents are also excellent and give a distinct personality to each character. The typical phrase "watch my chops" is the eagerly waited-for feature of each episode. The entire cartoon is well-done and any parent or cartoon buff should give it a try. I am sure that they won't be disappointed.

I am a dog, a dog who's incredibly bright, I can talk, read, & write....
DirectorsCut1922 August 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I can never get that catchy theme song out of my head, and I'm glad I can't. It's great...and so is the show! It's about a hapless dog walker who walks a talking dog for a rich couple, the catch is that HE only knows he can talk, although a scientist nearly did in an episode. Corneil is the dog, while Bernie's the dog walker. Usually, there curiosity gets both of them in trouble, like when Corneil thought a neighbor was Dracula, or how Bernie tries to be friend with cool kid Romeo. As you can guess, however, Bernie gets into the most trouble although Corneil always warns him with the memorable line "Bernie, watch my chops..." The animation is pretty bizarre, but we're not talking Yakkity Yak/Pelswick/Rocko bizarre, but bizarre. You can see the show for yourself if you have the Nicktoons channel: Its on weeknights at 8, 8:30, & 11pm before The Ren & Stimpy Show.

Grade: A-

Good but needs some more episodes in rotation
mamamiasweetpeaches2 March 2006
I came on here to write a review for CORNEIL AND BERNIE. I am surprised to say that a lot of the reviewers have already stated the important facts about the show and beat me to it! The show is about a teenager who is a dog walker for a rich childless couple who treat their dog like their baby. For some reason the dog, Corneil, decides that instead of letting his owners know he can talk he is going to let the dog walker Bernie in on the secret. The dog is very intelligent and the dog walker is pretty dopey so a lot of times the dog comes up with a brilliant scheme and the dog walker, Bernie puts the plan into motion. My seven year old daughter looooves this show because she's a big dog lover. It seems every time it starts she dances and sings the song (Okay, I admit it: so do I!) and she laughs all through the show and then when it ends she almost always turns to me and says "I wish our dog could talk". The one complaint I have about CORNEIL AND BERNIE is they always play the same few episodes. My daughter and I are getting curious just how many episodes were made so far because we keep seeing the same five episodes all the time (Bernie with a broken leg at the dance, the cook who is robber, the pram episode, the twin dog episode and the alien episode).

A show worth watching
atomius11 May 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I have seen the first two series on ABC and enjoyed it quite. The repeats on Rocco didn't lack in amusement, but a new series would be nice. The show is about a teenage boy and his job as a dog walker in a big city, and the artworks great, the music nice and the dialogue is on the better side of modern TV. A very enjoyable, entertaining show, but it would be nice to see some more episodes. One of my favourite things about this show is the way the city is portrayed, in a similar way to other shows- it only shows upclose the lives of a few citizens, yet you get the feeling a lot happens there. I reckon in future it'd be nice to expand the plot, there's certainly no end of ideas that would work, and the characters are great. Don't waste them in repeats!

Corneil and Bernie is such underrated show
GravityLoudHouseLover127 February 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Corneil and Bernie was a show that was on Nicktoons Networks back into 2005/2006. The show was about the Misadventures of a Corneil and his dog sitter Bernie Barges who look after for Beth and John. The others Characters include Bernie's Uncle Rico, Romeo who is a jock who doesn't like Corneil and Martha one Bernie's classmates. I remember watch this show as kid on Saturdays and Sunday at 3:00 and 3:30 in the afternoon and it was a good show. Today just watch couple episodes to refresh my memory. I watch the episode like "The Big Sleep", "Unlucky Break" and "A Dog's Life" just to name couple. I Really enjoyed Corneil and Bernie and recommend this show to anybody. Anyway I Give Corneil and Bernie a 10 out 10 stars for a really Great Show from My Childhood. Anyway Later. Review Updated on December 1st, 2023.

Barking good!
Theshapeshifter16 February 2006
This show is an instant classic. The reason that is is because it is a new idea, fresh and original. Despite the abundance of talking dogs in cartoons, this particular show changes all of that. The dog featured in the show itself is a brilliant mind. The story revolves around two characters in particular, one a highly intelligent dog and the other a dog-sitter who appears to be the one in need of a sitter. The dog demonstrates to the sitter that he can talk and think, and in so doing, proves himself useful in the sitter's day to day deeds and misdeeds. The show is well done because it proves that in order for a show to be funny, it doesn't need idiots, as popularly demonstrated. And the jokes are fresh, new, and subtle. The animation appears to be classic French animation and cleverly done, along with the music. If you own Nicktoons, and enjoy a comedy about smarter characters, I highly recommend this show.

Surprisingly hilarious
Angelus216 November 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Corneil is a dog that can speak and is exceptionally bright and then there's his dog walker, Bernie....The adventures they have turn out to be hilarious as Bernie constantly leads the dog into trouble and vice versa.

I found myself laughing out loud at some of the episodes when Bernie mistakes a old man for a gangster....The writers are quite clever by bringing in issues that one wouldn't expect from a children's TV show and making them the sole plot...Like being obsessed over a opera star...

The two things that make this show even more successful is the animation, its done in a beautiful way, like a comic come to life and the second factor is the theme song...Very, very catchy....

I like This Show
smokiekittycat26 June 2006
I discovered this show last year I think and I really got into it I first saw the song previews and was so happy. It was really a TV show my sister watched it a lot and saw at least one season I think. My favorite one was the underground mine when they went there to save two miners and got stuck. Yesterday I found a episode I never saw and was shocked I thought there was only one season. I was wrong I guess today they showed one when Bernie lost his memory and was going to reveal his secret the cure was the scent of cookies yum. The other was Corniel talking in his sleep so he stayed awake for two days poor thing looked terrible a kid heard him talking at the park under a bench. I'm happy there are more episodes be nice to know for sure though cause I like this show.

Corneil is the next BIG thing!
tedelglass14 February 2006
I happened across Corneil and Bernie one evening totally by accident. I thought it was cute and wanted to see it again. I am a grown woman but I love a good cartoon! I am now addicted to this show! I just love it!!! Corneil is absolutely the cutest and most likable little dog I've even encountered since Toto! Once you start watching this 'toon' you'll want to see it again and again. Even the opening song is catchy. While Bernie is an annoying moron, he is a great foil for Corneil. The setting is New York City where Corneil is the only "child" to a successful & prominent couple. Corneil can talk but Bernie is the only one who knows (much the same as "Mr. Ed" - another great show). When I first saw SpongeBob, I knew right away it was going to be HUGE - and I was right. I'm thinking Corneil is on his way to similar fame. I hope so. Can't wait for the merchandise to roll off the line. Already have all the SpongeBob 'stuff' I can handle! If you have kids, this is the cartoon. Unlike many others, it is not only entertaining but somewhat educational too. Heck, I've already picked up a Latin expression I didn't know!!! Tune in, you won't be disappointed. It's on NickToons.
