Una cinta magnética y sumamente atrayente en sus variantes que cumple muy bien el requisito de entretener y deleitar con su altísima factura técnica.
Quizás la historia sea el punto más débil, aunque por ser un producto fantasioso basado en un poema épico donde lo sobrenatural es lo que más llama la atención, queda disimulado que algunos personajes estén un poco descuidados y sin el desarrollo idóneo. Por ende tenemos, una película con un guión que se dedica de lleno a las aventuras, a las batallas más espectaculares que indudablemente nos transportan a situaciones exageradas propias del carácter épico-fantasioso. Todo ello con un tono bastante elevado, propio del cine exclusivamente de adultos donde algunas circunstancias tienen un sentido del humor procaz, algo verdaderamente interesante y novedoso por ser una obra mainstream muy popular.
La animación 3D es maravillosa, sin dudas que es el factor mas destacable del producto. El diseño estético de los personajes, los escenarios y todo el elemento taumatúrgico que envuelve decorativamente la narración suscitan mucha emoción. Es un filme absorbente desde lo visual, sólo basta ver el nivel de detalles sórdidos de Grendel, o el de su libidinosa madre (una Angelina Jolie que invita al onanismo hasta en su versión animada) para darnos cuenta que estamos frente a una obra muy cuidada hasta en sus pormenores.
Y por otro lado tenemos una partitura musical de Alan Silvestri sumamente imponente. Una admirable composición que combina sensibilidad dramática, espíritu aventurero y dulce romanticismo. Todo ello encaja perfectamente en el aire legendario y mágico que evaporan las circunstancias del filme.
En fin, una cinta que nos muestra lo último en animación 3D para dar vida a una historia épica con muchos toques mágicos, combinación justa para poder decir que es una de las películas destacadas del 2007.
