How to get her number

"Diez minutos" or "Ten Minutes" is an award-winning Spanish(-language) short film from 2004, so this one is already over a decade old. The writer and director is Alberto Ruiz Rojo, who is also the one who uploaded it on Youtube where this 15-minute film racked up hundreds of thousands views in the past couple years. It is basically a 2-people movie, namely about the man calling a support hotline where he needs to get a certain telephone number under which he can contact his girlfriend for an important reason. But takes metaphors about kids in deadly danger as well as puppies for the man to finally get the reluctant call center employee to help without endangering her own job. It is a story about professional responsibility vs. emotional responsibility and this is one of the main areas where the film succeeds. I myself enjoyed this quarter of an hour for the most part and I think there's way worse ways to spend 15 minutes. Of course you will need subtitles if you are as bad in Spanish as I am. Overall, this was a success. Yes there may be 2 or 3 moments when it takes itself a bit too seriously, but the overall plot and actors, who like the director are really not known outside Spain, but there yes, make more than up for it. You certainly want to check this one out as I give it a thumbs-up. Not best-short-film-of-the-year material, but very much worth seeing.

the phone number

I suppose, the expectation about the presumed twist is the main virtue of this film representing only the hard try of a young man to convince a customer service representative to get him a phone number. Generous inventivity, nice suggestions, fair crafted portraits of both.

And charming end.

The tension is the key of this film in which a love problem depends by a customer service young lady , the story determining her to ignore the rules being pretty touching.

The result - just seductive and admirable for acting, dialogue and the realism of situation , maybe for old fashion drops of story.

In short, just nice surprise.
