Sad as well as romantic comedy dealing with friendship and a wonderful love story
ma-cortes19 November 2015
Simple as well as sensitive film about youthful , including comedy , drama , emotion , along with colorful cinematography and marvelous songs . Heartfelt tale dealing with three twenty and some mates , regarding themes of friendship , love and death , but done through the eyes of youth . The picture concerns about an agreeable comradeship , taking place issues about love , forgiveness and regret . Three young men called Dani (Javier Pereira) , Ignacio (Oriol Vila) and Francisco (Marc Rodríguez) meet for their Sunday rituals : car driving , a paella , sunbathing on beach and a dip in the sea . They are going to suffer these changes for themselves , experiencing new loves in a way they never could have imagined . As Dani doesn't really care about the politics but finds himself trapped between love , basic humanity and the societal attitudes . Watching newspapers , they read a new decease , a schoolmate who passed way . After spotting an obituary for the classmate , they decide to attend the funeral . But they realize the recently deceased boy wasn't him . Confusion turns to coincidence as they meet a pair of young girls , Carmen (Núria Gago) , Dani's ex-lover , and Cristina (Tamara Arias) who will disrupt their perfect summer's day . As Dani is coming together Cristina , deceased's sister . But is then thrust into a situation where the stakes are far greater than he realised .

Close Dramedy concerning about sensitive friendship , death , repentance , emotion , and a moving romance ; including enjoyable interpretations with outcast roles were pretty well developed . As their touching love story becomes extremely affecting , partly because it's so innocent and partly because it's under threat of being ripped apart by a twisted lie . It may not totally get to the heart of some of the themes it raises , but it results in an exciting fresco with social fable , thoughtful issues , juvenile lives and by the end manages to be pretty touching . This thought-provoking and brooding flick concerning sweet and heartbreaking story of an enjoyable love given extra power by dealing with a moving portrait of youthful ; however , the picture relies heavily on the lively relationship among three protagonists and the subsequently love affair between Dani/Javier Pereira and Cristina/Tamara Arias . This can be the story of many faceless and nameless youngsters in any country who live , enjoy and love themselves . "Your Life in 65" pays tribute to ¨Kamchatka¨ by Marcelo Piñeyro with Ricardo Darin , Cecilia Roth , when two principal stars meet in the movie theater talking about their loving existences . Similarly , several images in rapid speed bear remarkable resemblance to 'Wonderland' by Michael Winterbottom . Main actors and support players give splendid performances . Both Fran Perea -who is in virtually every scene- and Tamara Arias put in extremely nice acting , which is key to ensuring the picture works . Secondary cast is pretty good such as Irene Montalà as Carolina , Núria Gago as Carmen , Ivan Massagué as Tillo and Àngela Jové as Dani's mummy .

The motion picture was professionally directed by Maria Ripoll . Maria Ripoll was born in 1964 in Barcelona, Catalonia , Spain and considered to be one of the best Spanish female filmmakers . She is a good director and assistant director , being especially known for the successful ¨Tortilla Soup¨ (2001) , ¨Lluvia En Zapatos¨ or ¨The Man with Rain in His Shoes¨ (1998) and ¨Rastres de Sàndal¨ (2014). Maria has directed known international stars such as Penélope Cruz , Lena Headey , Héctor Helizondo , Leonardo Sbaraglia , Tchéky Karyo , Jacqueline Obradors , Elizabeth Peña , Douglas Henshall , Mark Strong , among others . She also made a thriller that failed at box office titled ¨Utopia¨ with Najwa Nimri , José Garcia , Emma Vilarasau and Fele Martínez . And this one , "Your Life in 65" , that won several prizes and nominations , as won Barcelona Film Award Best Screenplay : Albert Espinosa , Nominated Barcelona Film Award Best Actress : Tamara Arias , Best Director and Best Score : Maria Ripoll and finally Nominated Butaca Awards (2007) to Best Catalan Film .

I saw this movie last weekend and I liked much. The place of making off, I am of Barcelona also, the prominent figures, the a bit macabre history but very well quite... You do not know what is going to happen to both principal characters until the end, if they were finishing together or not. I don't like very much what happens to the boy ultimately, but well, this it is the sense of the movie, " at some time you have been so happy that already you do not want more? " I am charmed with it and recommend you to everybody.

Thank you very much and I wait that you'll go to seeing hey!

A 65 words comment

Three twentysomethings out of Sunday morning apathy attend the wrong funeral and life itself becomes apparent.

For Dani who realises he has no idea of what 'falling in love' means, the death of an unknown guy who shared the same girlfriend turns out to be very important to understand his own father's death and past relationships.

At times transcendental but funny throughout with a 'wonderlandish' effect -check Winterbottom's film if you enjoy this one- and a CURE song inbetween... what else could you ask for!?

Extra lines for submission: (out of 65 words though)

The action is set in Barcelona, and a day at the BARCELONA FC Stadium is also included...

As always it feels strange that nobody speaks in Catalan even if the dead guy is called Albert and not Alberto...

It's a pity Catalan film makers prefer to do separated catalan and Spanish versions and not just one bilingual realistic movie for catalan and Spanish audiences alike.

The no-story of stupid teenagers
ibsenvonkant8 August 2006
This film is so awful that it makes you consider suicide. Ripoll tries to copy Isabel Coixet's movies. It does not work using bad teenagers actors. I will explain my point of view: Since the beginning of the film, the dialogs do not flow, and it makes that the audience does not believe anything. The characters are badly created. There is no evolution in the plot, and even there is no story that tells something. The worst of the film is the couple of the main actors: "Tamara Arias" and "Javier Pereira". If you do not want to waste your money, please do not watch this film. Go to watch intelligent films, do not waste your time.

Pleasant and Melancholic

Warning: Spoilers
Your Life In 65 is worth watching if you like well crafted film. If you plan to see it and like a film to reveal itself to you stop reading my review at the line of "stars" below.

This is a carefree, lightly comedic, slightly dark film about about three 23 year old guys at the beginning of adulthood. Many films that look at similar moments in life can be overwrought or self indulgent and nostalgic. Other than its precious tile Your Life In 65 is very realistic in the conversations and relationships of the friends and the event that provides the plot of the film. (The Strand Releasing summary of the film is a lousy representation of the story.)

Your Life In 65 looks great, presenting Barcelona in a slightly gritty non idealized way that makes it feel like almost any city on a summer day. The soundtrack adds to the feel of the city setting, the music and visuals combining nicely without feeling like the director was depending on the music to set the tone.

How the film ends can be regarded as a cheap (and slightly juvenile) trick. Giving the writer the benefit of the doubt the ending can be taken as weirdly tragic or merely happy but presented in a way that makes it purposely ambiguous.

The most satisfying way to see the end is as a flash of magical realism which reveals that you hadn't seen the film you thought you saw. What had seemed like a small string of coincidences was actually the lose ends of a life being tied up.
