El Club del Hogar started as a radio show, co-hosted by Daniel Perez Alcaraz and Pedro Ferriz Santacruz (who soon left to become a news anchorman after starting on TV). The arrival of comedian Francisco Fuentes "Madaleno" as the new co-host defined the dynamics of this three-decade long Mexican TV show.
During the long run of this show in the second half of the XX Century, the first Mexican TV channel merged with all the other existing ones in the fifties to form Telesistema Mexicano, the first Mexican TV network. Again in 1973 a merger with one more channel created the present day communications giant, Televisa.

Daniel Perez Arcaraz, the main host of the show, wrote a music hit in Mexico: "Mientes" (You lie)
