This short film has been written off in the past as a series of moody but random images. I have to admit the first time I saw it I thought, this looks and sounds great, but what on earth is it? The answer is, I have no idea. Strangely though I was lucky enough to view it on a friend's DVD a few times and although it has no coherent plot as such, there is definitely meaning to the madness. My take is that the protagonist, Charlie, has imagined the perfect Barbie Doll girlfriend but as his own mind deteriorates his vision of perfection turns evil. I may be wrong but this seems to make sense to me. The performances are a bit cheesy in places but the film as a whole really works in the respect that there is nothing else like it on the short film circuit that I've seen. The soundtrack is quite loud and annoying and the editing is extremely schizophrenic. Basically this film will appeal to a very specific audience and I recommend it for anybody who thinks the straight forward narrative structure we've seen too many times is a thing of the past. This is good, spooky, weird, demented fun. It's kind of sexy too.
