An evil presence preys on the trauma, guilt and people’s unsuccessful attempts to run away from their past mistakes.
It knows what you did… It will use it against you.
Allison Cutter is just a typical housewife living in California with her husband Ray. One night she wakes up to find herself alone in her bed with Ray nowhere in sight. She looks for him, but instead of finding her husband, she finds a different man in her kitchen. A completely nude man with slashed wrists raiding her refrigerator. Before Allison can call for help, she is stabbed seven times in the back. What follows is a story of a...

Welcome back to the Weekend Warrior, your weekly look at the new movies hitting theaters this weekend, as well as other cool events and things to check out.
Will This April Dump Weekend See Any New Movie Open Over $10 Million?
After the decent opening of last week’s The Fate of the Furious--though not quite as much as I predicted--it’s going to be hard for any new movie to make a mark against its second weekend even if it drops 55% or more this weekend, which is very likely.
Probably the best bet to make money this weekend is the thriller Unforgettable (Warner Bros.), which pits Kathryn Heigl against Rosario Dawson and is the directorial debut by producer Denise Di Novi (Crazy, Stupid, Love). It also stars Geoff Stults as the ex-husband of Heigl’s character Tessa, who becomes engaged to Dawson’s Julia, making her the stepmom to the former’s daughter,...

Shia Labeouf’s war drama “Man Down” made headlines Tuesday after selling only one ticket during its UK opening weekend, grossing a total of £7 ($8.73), per ComScore. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the film has sold an extra two tickets, making its total gross $26.19.

Back in 2006, low-budget thriller “Zyzzyx Road” made movie history — and not in a good way — by producing the lowest box office gross in film history, taking in a measly $30 when it opened in a single theatre on Mar. 31. It looks like that dubious record could be challenged thanks to Shia Labeouf and […]...

If Shia Labeouf ever does a sequel to #Allmymovies in the UK, he could double the total viewership of “Man Down” on the other side of the pond. The actor’s war drama opened at exactly on theater in the town of Burnley over the weekend and sold exactly one ticket — comScore reported a gross of just £7 ($8.70). At least ticket prices are still reasonable there.

Stories like this come around every so often — the Katherine Heigl thriller “Zyzzyx Road” grossed just $30 back in 2006, for instance — but attracting five or six viewers is still preferable to just one. “Man Down” fared considerably better during its domestic run, bringing in a little more than $450,000 after opening here last December.

There's a good chance you haven't even heard of the lowest grossing film of the year. The Christian Slater-starring "Playback" cost $7.5 million to make and only grossed $264 in theaters. Yes, only $264.
Movieline reports that the film only showed in one cinema, where it made $252 its first week and $12 (likely just one ticket) the following week. After that it was pulled, and it has gone on to live on VOD via Netflix and Amazon Prime.
Of course, $264 is massive intake when compared to the lowest-grossing film of all time. That honor goes to Katherine Heigl's "Zyzzyx Road," which was released in 2007 and made a grand total of $30 in theaters.
For some context, the highest grossing movie of the year was "The Avengers," which made $623 million in the United States alone and $1.5 billion worldwide.

The Grand Illusion It's interesting to see the film with spine #1 over at the Criterion Collection coming to Blu-ray for the first time from another company as Studio Canal has brought over their previously released European version of the excellent La Grande Illusion to Blu-ray here in the States. I have not yet had a chance to watch this release but word is that it looks great and the supplemental material looks strong. I previously owned this title only in my [amazon asin="B000I5YUE4" text="The Essential Art House - 50 Years of Janus Films"] collection, but I love how Studio Canal and Lionsgate have teamed to continue to bring some classic foreign titles home to the U.S. Although, compared to the number of titles they've released overseas, they still have a lot of catching up to do.

Lots of movies bomb at the box office — even movies featuring big stars from hit TV medical dramas of the moment. But when 2006 indie thriller Zyzzyx Road came out, its lack of success lit up the Internet. Because Zyzzyx Road wasn’t just a failure: it was an epic, historic, astonishing failure that brought in a whopping gross of…30 bucks. That’s right, 30 U.S. dollars. Total.

"Zyzzyx Road" -- reportedly the lowest grossing film of all time -- is getting a summer digital release though GoDigital, it was announced today. Though not technically an official theatrical run, the numbers received considerable press including a n article in Entertainment Weekly by the name of “The Strange and Twisted Tale of… The Movie That Grossed $30.00." Last weekend, a film called The Worst Movie Ever! (complete with an exclamation mark in the title) played two midnight showings at the Laemmle Sunset 5 in Los Angeles and made only $11. That means that one person attended only one of the screenings, which means that if the filmmaker’s mother came out to support him, he wasn’t there to hold her hand. It’s difficult to say with certainty, but the whole thing seems fishy. If you were four-walling your own movie, wouldn’t you want to be there? Wouldn’t the actors and people who worked on the thing show up for support even if it meant paying for their own ticket? Is it just blind luck that advertising brought in only one person interested in seeing it (thus making it the lowest-grossing opening weekend ever)? For any other movie, these questions might not even pop up. When the infamous Zyzzyx Road scored $20 during its...

As I was browsing through Youtube for some meaningless random shit to put up for you unappreciative lowlifes on what surely was a terrible Monday for everybody, I ran into this short clip which prompted some further investigation as it's subject is our very own Matron of Multi-hued Murder, Katherine Heigl.
Apparently Kathy made a movie in 2006 which has the bizarre title of Zyzzyx Road and stars Kathy as a cleavagely afflicted woman of some sort and Tom Sizemore as her violent ex-boyfriend. Apparently Tom finds her in a hotel with another man, kills the man and drives to the desert in order to bury the body along the titular road. But, upon digging the grave, Tom finds that the body is missing from the trunk (Dun! Dun! Dunnnnn!) Tom engages in a pursuit of the dead guy who isn't and dirty secrets are learned. Tom, you just can't do anything right.

Uma Thurman’s new movie Motherhood—which is about, let’s see, Google says “mommy blogging”—earned £88, approximately $133 U.S. dollars, during its opening weekend in Britain. “The reviews were very poor indeed but that alone isn’t enough to explain it,” a critic named Barry Norman told The Times. Even the film’s actual producer was shocked—shocked! “You’re kidding? We must have broken a new record for grosses,” she said, incorrectly. Actually, the record for lowest grossing film is held by some incredible thing starring Tom Sizemore called Zyzzyx Rd, which played for less than a week in February of 2006 and earned a total of $30. Motherhood isn’t even good at being the worst.

Motherhood's disastrous performance at the box office provokes bitter confrontation between producer and UK distributor
It should have been a red carpet event. When just one British cinema was given exclusive permission to launch Uma Thurman's new film earlier this month, the film's producers presumably hoped that exclusivity would create a buzz around the movie. Though limiting the release would obviously limit takings, they must have hoped word of mouth could make it a slow-burning success.
But the tactic backfired catastrophically. Instead of audiences queueing round the block of the Apollo West End in Piccadilly Circus, London, to see the star of Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill, they stayed away in record-breaking numbers.
Over its opening weekend, no more than a dozen people went to see Motherhood, a semi-autobiographical account of stressed-out Manhattan parenting written and directed by Katherine Dieckmann. The film made just £88 on the weekend of Friday 5 March.
