- Paul plays at being a detective until dad, who is a revenue officer, sends him out to prove his worth by rounding up some desperate moonshiners.
- Being a parlor hero does not at all suit the wild ambitions of Mr. Parrott. He must seek adventure and when his desires are made known to his parent, father sees a chance to let his boy prove his mettle by "getting" a noted moonshiner. He soon starts forth and more by good luck than foresight, stumbles into the territory where the moonshiner holds sway. All would have gone well, only the moonshiner had a beautiful daughter who immediately falls in love with the man, who unknown to her seeks to ensnare her father. Unaware of her hero's quest, the girl unwittingly invites him to their cabin here he is surprised by the moonshiners. But, a quick wit and a sudden resourcefulness takes him out of the trap, enables him to catch the moonshiners and carry off the girl as his prize.—Copyright Description from Library of Congress
