three ultra quick vignettes... don't blink ! *** SPOILERS ****
ksf-225 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Vivir, or TO LIVE in English. Just a ten minute shortie, this is an early project from Julian Hernandez. ONLY 19 votes so far. Three very quick little vignettes, with completely different locations, actors, and messages. It's really a shame that this one is so short... the credits of each scene shown at the end of each scene really hog up half the time. The first one has the phrase "We rescued them, we brought them here" repeated over and over, with many men running in a salt flat. They seem to be in couples, but the message being shown is left to the viewer. Are they suggesting that the gay couples were brought to this place to be saved, like a sanctuary for animals? The second scene is one guy in a park asking another if he really loves him, with poetry and music in the background. That one is just a couple minutes long. Then in the third, a man and woman flirt, dance and make love. Again, the message is left to the viewer. Part of the TLA DVD "Mexican Men". Mostly good things to say about this one... the first two are clearly pro LGBT messages, altho the message of the first isn't clear to me. Then the last shortie shows a cute couple active in various poses and activities. Again, not sure what the message is here. The first two scenes are just fine, but not sure what we're supposed to get out of the last scene. Confused. Hopefully more people will see this, and explain it better than i can.

Waste of time

My heart sinks when I see credits on a short film for a mezzo-soprano or a baritone. I fear the film is going to be an arty bore that means nothing. That was the case with this film.

I saw this short film as part of the "Mexican Men" compilation of five films that is not listed on IMDB. It is easily the worst film of the five.

The writer and director obviously thought they would be marvelled at for being cryptic and profound but, in fact, the scenes from these vignettes were risible. It was so bad I fast-forwarded through the last one. I cannot recommend this offering in the slightest and wonder why another film couldn't have been found to make up the ninety minutes of the collection.
