Sophia Loren has announced her return to the big screen.
The legendary Italian actress will star in her son Edoardo Ponti's The Human Voice (La voce umana), according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film is based on a one-person Jean Cocteau play that originally debuted in the 1930s.
Filming will begin in Rome, Naples and Ostia this month.
The 78-year-old Loren last appeared in the TV movie La mia casa e' piena di specchi (My House Is Full of Mirrors).
Her last big screen features were the 2009 musical Nine and the 2004 comedy Peperoni ripieni e pesci in faccia (Too Much Romance... It's Time For Stuffed Peppers).
Loren previously starred in Ponti's 2002 drama Cuori estrani (Between Strangers).
