With each update, Tekken 8 becomes a better experience, as Bandai Namco listens to the fans, provides balance updates to an extent, and throws in new content for its players. The concept of seasons in games has been going on for a while.
Although the latest Tekken felt complete on release as compared to other titles in the genre, even it couldn’t escape the seasonal route that comes with modern gaming. Last month, series veteran Eddy Gordo made his entrance into Tekken 8, but the future will see more inclusions that fans will likely appreciate.

It is not a rare sight to see video games often collaborating with cinematic and other similar franchises that focus on a similar genre in order to entertain a larger audience. The same was the case when an unexpected collaboration between Mortal Kombat and DC came back in 2008, leaving fans shocked but glad as they enjoyed fighting against some of the most known superheroes.
What would have made such collaboration even better would be an animated movie, which is something that was actually pitched to Warner Bros, or WB as they own the copyright and trademarks to the superheroes. This was unfortunately shot down, depriving fans of what could have been a great experience watching the movie.

The Tekken video game series is if not the best, then one of the greatest fighting games ever made in the genre, and the success of Tekken 7 is the perfect example to showcase the franchise’s influence. The game is also responsible for bringing the addition of many new fighters that the player could fight with, including Shaheen, a Middle Eastern fighter.
The player base could not have been happier with this addition, which is part of the reason why Bandai Namco chose to include Shaheen once again in the latest installment of the series, Tekken 8. He is also the perfect example of what a regionally-inspired character should be like, as talked about by the director of the game himself, Katsuhiro Harada.

Tekken is one of the most popular fighting game franchises that has enjoyed huge success and has a massive community. There are nearly a dozen games in the franchise, and Bandai Namco Entertainment released the latest title, Tekken 8, earlier this year after a wait of nearly nine years.
The game has received critical and commercial success, with a critic score of 90 on Metacritic and a user score of 8.1. However, despite the success of the game, Tekken boss Katsuhiro Harada is worried about the future of one-on-one fighting titles, and the young players are the ones to blame.

With a base roster of 32 fighters, Tekken 8 has surpassed Mortal Kombat 1 and Street Fighter 6, as it has earned the crown of being the greatest fighting game of the current generation because of its relatively non-greedy practices. Where MK1 and SF6 had 22 and 18 characters in their base rosters, respectively, with the rest of the fighters locked behind paid Dlc, the latest installment in the Tekken franchise ensured that it treated its fans with as many iconic faces as possible.
However, there was a void in the absence of one Og fighter who, ever since his debut in 1997’s Tekken 3, remained a fan-favorite character in every game that followed.

The Indomitable Flash, Eddy Gordo, has arrived in Tekken 8.
Although Eddy Gordo will make his Tekken 8 debut for all players on April 4, gamers who bought the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition got to select the Brazilian fighter from April 1 onwards.

Gaming is at its peak nowadays, and every developer who makes an excellent game gets the success they deserve. In 2023, games like Baldur’s Gate 3, Spider-Man 2, and Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty got the success they so deserved. But the most surprising was Street Fighter 6, which became an unexpected breakthrough for Capcom. The same happened for Tekken 8 recently; both of these games became successful, surprising everyone involved.
It’s not as if fans do not know about these games or that they are small franchises; it’s just that fighting games have a very niche audience. Hence, when these games get so successful, everyone can’t help but wonder what happened. But the director of Tekken 8 has his doubts about the future of his genre.

Sony’s video game journey began in 1993 through the amalgamation with Sony Music Entertainment Japan, giving birth to the first PlayStation. Since then, it has become the gold standard in the console business, and eventually in the gaming industry. From Tekken to Uncharted the company has achieved great feats not just in terms of quality but revenue too.
Recently, it conducted a vote to see what’s the fan-favorite game independent of the critics. Turns out, fans’ choice is different from the critics. And if you’re a fan of Mark Dacascos, then you probably know the movie, Only the Strong. Only the Strong is the best Jean-Claude Van Damme movie that Van Damme never starred in. In fact, if you look at the director’s filmography, he had a successful collaboration streak with Jcvd that led to Only the Strong. However, the movie actually fares better without him, because it features a star-making turn by the unanimously perceived underrated martial arts actor Mark Dacascos. In one passage of the book, Little discusses the series of mistakes and oversights that led to Brandon Lee’s tragic shooting death on the set of The Crow. With a remake of The Crow set to reach theatres in June and Rust armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed having just been found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the case of the shooting death on the set of that film,...

Tekken 8 has already sold a couple of million copies globally, surpassing the sales expectations of Bandai Namco. Interestingly the numbers came out to be a savior, to some extent, given the underperformance of their Mmo game Blue Protocol. The numbers generated by the popular fighting game hopefully did set off the potential losses. Now as the game is probably adding microtransactions, it remains to be seen how the new feature will perform.
Nonetheless, fans are clinging to the hope that the game won’t be putting hefty price labels so they can afford and enjoy it without going on the edge. The franchise has, to this date, sold 55 Million copies globally with Tekken 7 passing with flying colors, having sold over 10 Million copies. Bandai Namco would want to continue with this success with the latest game in the franchise which is possible when fans aren’t upset with their endeavors.

After working together on the 2021 version of Wrong Turn, director Mike P. Nelson and screenwriter Alan B. McElroy are re-teaming for the Brazil-set creature feature Titan – and Deadline reports that Kiana Madeira of the Fear Street trilogy and Jessica Rothe of the Happy Death Day movies are set to star in the film!
The story Titan is set against the backdrop of Brazil’s Curuçá River in the present day. When a team of young doctors embark on a local humanitarian mission through the Amazon rainforest, it soon becomes clear that not everyone – or everything – is happy to see them. Their arrival draws the attention of an ancient predator, the “Boiúna”. This ancient killer, dominant on land and water, clashes to reclaim the jungle. The ensuing fight for survival blurs the roles of hunter, prey, and hero.
The film is coming our way from the Resident Evil franchise makers at Constantin Film and Jb Pictures.

As a fan of fighting games, Tekken 8 was pretty high on my video games of 2024 list. I’ve been playing the games since the very beginning, back when there were only eight characters until you unlocked the rest. Tekken has always been a unique franchise to me, from the ongoing Mishima family “let me grab my popcorn” mess to the fact that some of the lore is unapologetically bizarre. You’d think the multiple bear characters were a joke, but not only are they part of the ongoing story, they aren’t even the weirdest fighter you can pick — and I love every minute of it. There are plenty of anime out there that make use of the gaming trope as their premise. You know, the one where the main character gets trapped inside a video game and now has to scale through all its levels to become the strongest being alive. Isekai anime and manga are particularly fond of this trope — with the most famous ones being “No Game, No Life,” “Overlord,” and “Sword Art Online.” There’s also the newest hype in the anime world with the manhwa turned anime, Solo Levelling.
But what if we tell you some games do the opposite and use anime as their premise? Here are four fan-favorite games that have been adapted from their anime counterparts.

On January 26, Bandai Namco will release Tekken 8 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. While there will surely be multiple seasons of Dlc for the game, the first season will end right around the 30th anniversary of the series. 30 years of eight mainline titles, two tag team offshoots, a Nina Williams spinoff, some mediocre-at-best movies, a pretty decent Netflix animated series, and a handful of weird-ass comic tie-ins.
In those three decades, Bandai Namco gave us what might just be the best fighting game series to ever exist. If the fighting genre had a Mount Rushmore, surely the titles carved into it would be Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Tekken, and King of Fighters. I mean, I suppose you could argue Super Smash Bros., but the fighting game community treats it like Anakin Skywalker in the Jedi Council. It’s there, but is treated like an outsider.

If you ever wanted to hear Scottish actor Brian Cox ask the question "What the hell is a Devil Jin?," the new Tekken 8 trailer was tailor made for you. As Logan Roy in Succession , he knows a thing or two about tumultuous family ties, and there's no blood more bound to boil than that of the Mishima clan and the other relationships in the Tekken series. If you need a catchup before the new entry arrives, Brian Cox narrates a "Story So Far" trailer that recaps the saga in a way only he can manage. Related: Tekken 8 Rounds Out Launch Fighter Lineup with Newcomers Reina and Victor Bandai Namco sums up the story of Tekken 8 , even if Cox already nailed it in the video: In Tekken 8, as “The Dark Awakens,” Kazuya Mishima’s vision of hell on earth is now threatening all of humanity. Today’s the day many Tekken fans have been waiting for. As many tidbits on how the Tekken 8 story will go down have been sprinkled throughout the year, the state of their world has been in a state of disarray since the events of Tekken 6. At that point, even the United Nations themselves were no match for the might of the three-way struggle. The Mishima Zaibatsu, G-Corp, and the rebellion are in a stalemate. Bandai Namco is doing us a […]

This is the trailer I’ve been waiting for! Yoshimitsu has returned to Tekken 8. And, as usual, in the most elaborate costume yet. Namco does this in every Tekken game he’s a part of, and I’m here for it! Each costume feels more ridiculously cooler than the last( though I’m always about that cockroach skeleton look from Tekken 4. It had wings he used in the ending!). This one is screaming Power Ranger villain at this point. The […]

Netflix’s live-action adaptation of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” has an official premiere date: February 22, 2024. The news was revealed as part of the streamer’s Geeked Week.
“Time is a funny thing. The past, the future, it all gets mixed up,” Uncle Iroh (Paul Sun-Hyung Lee) says in the first teaser. “There’s only one way to keep it straight: Always remember who you are.”
Earlier this week, Netflix revealed a new poster for the series, which showed Aang (Gordon Cormier), Katara (Kiawentiio) and Sokka (Ian Ousley) riding Aang’s flying bison, Appa. Now the streamer has dropped even more footage including new photos and a teaser.
Previously, Cormier starred as Joe in Paramount+’s “The Stand;” Kiawentiio starred in Netflix’s “Anne with an E” and Peacock’s “Rutherford Falls;” and Ousley starred in Apple TV+’s “Physical” as well as Netflix’s “13 Reasons Why.” Additionally, the series stars Dallas Liu (“Tekken,...

Writer-director Eddie Alcazar has undoubtedly infused Divinity with a distinctive look—so much so that the story’s attempt at an excoriation of spectacle and empty pleasure comes off as little more than a reluctant swipe. The style, dialed up from minute one, grows monotonous, all the more so since the film treats substance as an afterthought.
Divinity is a science-fiction tale of the cautionary, finger-wagging variety. In what seems like an alternate version of the 1990s, an aging, laughably naïve scientist (Scott Bakula) aspires to better the world and take the place of God by developing an immortality drug. But the man dies before he can begin testing on humans, and his son, Jaxxon (Stephen Dorff), takes over the family business. Displaying none of his father’s qualms when it comes to harvesting fetal tissue, Jaxxon puts the drug on the market. And as promised by a salvo of pornographic TV commercials,...

Mortal Kombat is a prolific fighting franchise. Despite the upcoming game’s Mortal Kombat 1 title, it is actually the twelfth mainline game in the series, and that number doesn’t account for the various spinoffs and countless upgrades. Then you have all the comics, movies, TV shows, web shows, techno albums, and other stuff that grew out of the series. From Liu Kang fighting a stop-motion Goro in a dingy dungeon to seeing him reinvent the entire universe, Mortal Kombat has seen some stellar highs and embarrassing lows.
What I’m saying is, Mortal Kombat is…a lot. So, as we prepare for Liu Kang and Shang Tsung’s war over the rebooted Earthrealm, let’s talk about some lesser-known parts of the franchise that you might not know about.

Australian twin filmmaking duo Danny and Michael Philippou, who directed Sundance breakout “Talk to Me,” are in final talks to direct “Street Fighter” at Legendary, according to an insider with knowledge of the project.
Legendary secured an exclusive license to the live-action film and television rights for the iconic Capcom video game franchise earlier this month.
The first “Street Fighter” game was released in arcades in 1987 and has sold over 49 million units worldwide, becoming one of the most well-known and highest-grossing video game franchises of all time. It featured two playable characters, Ryu and Ken, who traveled the world fighting other martial artists in a tournament. Despite its limited gameplay mechanics, the game was a hit and spawned numerous sequels and spin-offs.

Video game movies typically get a bad rap, as they try to strike a balance between exploring their narratives and catering to the fans of a given franchise. The move from one medium to the next can be a challenging one, but more recent additions to the sub-genre found success with titles such as Pokémon Detective Pikachu. There are more video game movies hitting the silver screen in recent years, so here’s a look at pre-2000s flicks.

Electric Dragon 80.000 V’s opening narration, delivered by Masakatsu Funaki, informs us that dragons are not mythical creatures, they exist with the bodies of men. That’s followed by scenes of a young boy climbing an electrical pylon only to get a massive shock from the high-tension wires.
This does something to the part of his brain that “we inherited unchanged from lizards” and results in Dragon Eye Morrison frequently getting in trouble for fighting. Attempts to cure it with electric shock therapy only make it worse, turning him into a walking battery. Now an adult he collects lizards and plays guitar to work out his aggression. As the narrator puts it “what saved him from ruin was…The Electric Guitar” as we watch him play.
But ruin in the form of Thunderbolt Buddha has come looking for him.

The legacy of video game adaptations is a complex one, as most attempts to create standalone stories based on massively popular video games have failed on some fundamental level. Thankfully, there have been some exceptions in the recent past, which include Netflix's "Arcane" (based on "Arcane: League of Legends") and "Tekken: Bloodline" (based on the popular "Tekken" franchise). So, when CD Projekt Red announced a standalone anime series titled "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners," based on the mega-hyped "Cyberpunk 2077," fans of the open-world game were cautiously hopeful. Netflix dropped the series today, and I have good news for you: "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners" brings the world of the game to life in the best of ways.
While fans of "Cyberpunk 2077" will rejoice at the anime's dedication to the game's in-world lore, aesthetics, and core concepts, those unfamiliar with the original source material might feel a little lost at first. What exactly does the protagonist,...

There is no franchise that is so big that it’s immune from some bizarre footnotes that become a forgettable part of its history. It’s inevitable. By the time The Empire Strikes Back had come out, Star Wars had already given us a bewildering TV special about Chewbacca’s version of Christmas, a comedy sketch of Richard Pryor working at the Mos Eisley cantina, and a comic book where Han Solo teamed up with a green Bugs Bunny. The bigger and more expansive the series, the more likely you’re going to see find some curious treasure buried between the couch cushions.

The latest animated version of “Tekken” the video game has hit Netflix this month, following the story of its third edition, in six episodes that definitely leave room for sequel(s).
The first of the six episodes shows Jin Kazama learning the Kazama Style Traditional Martial Arts from his mother Jun, in their secluded cabin in the woods. Despite some incidents here and there, the two of them live a peaceful life, with their relationship being quite good. However, for reasons unknown, an ancient demon, Ogre, appears in their house, ending up killing Jun who barely manages to save her son. The next two episodes revolve around the relationship between Jin and his grandfather, Heihachi Mishima, powerful martial artist and business mogul, who eventually agrees to train him after he mentions what happened with the Ogre. Heihachi proves a rather hard teacher, but through the years, Jin becomes a truly powerful fighter himself.

Heihachi proves a rather hard teacher, but through the years, Jin becomes a truly powerful fighter himself.

Wayfarer Studios and Bandai Namco Entertainment have partnered to develop a live-action Pac-Man film based on the classic arcade game franchise, Deadline can confirm.
Released by the Japanese video game company Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. (formerly Namco) back in 1980, Pac-Man has a player controlling the yellow orb of the same name, as he winds through a maze in an effort to chomp up dots, while being chased around by four differently colored ghosts. The character has previously spurred the creation of two television series—the Saturday morning cartoon Pac-Man from Hanna-Barbera, which aired on ABC from 1982-1983, and the CG animated series Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures, which debuted on Disney Xd in 2013.
The new Pac-Man pic stems from an original concept from Lightbeam Entertainment’s Chuck Williams (Sonic the Hedgehog), who will produce with Tim Kwok for Lightbeam, along with Justin Baldoni, Manu Gargi and Andrew Calof on behalf of Wayfarer Studios.
