This week’s Baskets episode, titled Yard Sale, made us laugh and cry within 30 minutes. Esther Roosevelt is officially dead and buried and her children Christine and Jim have wrapped up her Earthly affairs. But with all deaths in families, there are complications when it comes time to figure out who gets what. This week, the Baskets’ family history was further examined in the episode where we learned how unfair their father was to Christine, while Jim always reaped the lion’s share. The heaviness of memaw’s death aside, the Baskets gang rebounded pretty fast, but we saw that Christine had a...read more...

The Walking Dead is getting the keys to The Kingdom.
TVLine has learned that AMC has issued a casting call for the recurring role of Augustus, a character who bears a striking resemblance to Ezekiel, who, in Robert Kirkman’s series of graphic novels, is the self-proclaimed king of The Kingdom. How much do we miss “Clean House”? A ton, people! The Hallmark “Home & Family” taping for Monday, April 13, was a blast and it reminds us all of the alchemy with a finely tuned cast and how their energy makes (or breaks) a great TV show. Each episode of “Clean House” on the Style network began with a short montage introducing the “makeover” family and domicile. Niecy Nash, guided family members through the process of letting go of things with the assistance of “Go-to-Guy,” handyman Matt Iseman, “Yard Sale Diva,” Trish Suhr and designer Mark Brunetz. It's time for your weekly reminder: CBS' "Mom" is taking creative risks that no other comedy on TV, especially no other multi-cam comedy on network TV, is even considering. After tackling drug addiction, teen pregnancy, cancer and an assortment of other maladies and discomforts last season and delving into depression and economic hardship so far in Season 2, "Mom" delves into some of its darkest terrain with Monday's episode, "Free Therapy and a Dead Lady's Yard Sale," in which, as the title suggests, a group therapy session leads Christy (Anna Faris) and Bonnie (Allison Janney) to tell an acting-out Violet (Sadie Calvano) some distressing truths about her father. Long stretches of the episode play out in almost purely dramatic mode with nary a punchline. But, as always seems to be the case on "Mom," if ever things get too somber, there's a corpse that "looked like a bean-bag chair in a nightgown,...

Ah, the holidays. Time for the sharing of cheer, the giving of thanks, and - for millions of families like mine - the marathon viewing of Hgtv.
Let's face it: being cooped up for days on end with the same group of people isn't good for anyone, and before too long with too little to do even the most harmonious of families start to resemble the Big Brother house. That's why Hgtv is the perfect holiday guest: it's less divisive than CNN, less maudlin than Christmas specials, and it's not football.
But before we settle into a 12-episode run of Property Virgins, let's admit that sometimes Hgtv, for all its pluck and know-how, makes us want to kick a hole through some newly-hung drywall.

It’s safe to say that the theme of tonight’s episode of Modern Family was miscommunication. Phil threw a boys’ night that turned into a gay tryst with guest star Matthew Broderick, Claire lied to herself about the importance of Alex winning a scholastic bowl, Mitch overestimated the severity of Jay’s dilemma, Cam ignored his loved ones’ complaints that he’s too controlling, and Manny misread a gaze from a passing girl.
Phil and Dave (Matthew Broderick)
After spending the day wiring the house to his iPad, Phil decides to heed Claire’s advice and go out and “play.

Last night’s episode of Modern Family reminded me why I originally fell in love with the series. The triumphant returns of Haley and DeeDee, as well as the mixed family dynamic were just what the doctor ordered. The night was filled both with tender moments and blink-and-you’ll-miss-it comedic gold, making the episode my favorite since the season premiere.
The episode opened with a high note — and loud ring — when Claire got the 3 a.m. phone call that every parent dreads. No one died, but Haley did get arrested. Let’s face it, (as Cam later confides to Lily...

A lot can happen in a few hours on Modern Family. Leave it to a regular old "Yard Sale" for Phil to have a James Franco moment, Luke to manipulate people, Alex to fight and make up with her gay boyfriend, Cam and Mitchell to have seven fights and Gloria to realize she married her puppet.
I'm gonna kick off this review with the part about Gloria and her puppet because I laughed so hard at that realization I had to rewind it.
Jay was really cracking me up this week, even though he wasn't much crankier than usual. My favorite exchange was the one he had with the guy who was trying to haggle him about the ash tray:
Jay: You're wearing a $10K watch and you haggling over 15 cents?
Guy: You live in this place and you can't let that 15 cents go?

With Dan Rush's Everything Must Go, star Will Ferrell delivers a performance that offers virtually nothing of the Ferrell that his core fans have come to know and love in the sort of film largely attended by people who typically have a strong dislike for films starring people like Will Ferrell. This leads me to believe that virtually nobody will ever actually go to see Ferrell in Everything Must Go, which is a bit of a crime because it is exactly the sort of performance that could forever alter the way people look at the man.
Ferrell star as Nicolas Halsey, a man in the throes of a very bad day when we first meet him. He begins by being fired from his job of sixteen years, a job he is actually quite good at. It continues when he arrives home to find the locks changed, his wife gone...

Wong Fu Productions has been a rising force in the YouTube landscape lately, bringing their distinctive filmmaking polish to the mat with the breezy comedy vibe of YouTube’s top stars. Rumors had been circling of a ’secret’ 45-minute movie project with YouTube’s current #1 most subscribed user, NigaHiga (Ryan Higa). Finally Wong Fu released the teaser trailer (below) confirming the project and giving a glimpse at their high school action-comedy. Wong Fu’s Philip Wang co-wrote and produced the project with Higa, with Wang and his Wong Fu partners Wesley Chan and Ted Fu sharing the directing duties. Casting the project, like many of Wong Fu’s originals, meant tapping a number of YouTube notables as the leads, including Kassem G, Smosh, and Rawn. Higa stars as a covert agent or “A.S.S.” (Agent of Secret Stuff) sent on assignment to high school to protect Taylor from assassins.

17 year-old Nebraska native Lucas Cruikshank created a character Fred, that, like him or loathe him, made him the youngest ever to sit atop YouTube’s most subscribed channels list. (He’s since been overtaken by 20 year-old Ryan Higa aka NigaHiga) And that venerable high-pitched “6 year-old” Fred Figglehorn’s incredibly popular videos even led to a feature movie around the character that was picked up by Nickelodeon as a TV movie to air September 17. Today Nickelodeon confirmed that Cruikshank will now star in his very own half-hour TV comedy series on the network called Marvin, Marvin. The show is part of an overall talent deal the network signed with Cruikshank who appeared in a recent guest spot on its web-inspired comedy iCarly. Jon Ross (10 Things I Hate About You) will create and executive produce the series that had Cruikshank staring as Marvin, “a new kid in school who is a bit odd.

The Style Network Presents "Marry Me In Mexico - Trish's Dream Weddings" premieres August 4 @ 10:00 P.M. Et/Pt. "Clean House" Yard sale Diva Trish Suhr got married!! She recently tied the knot with her fiancé, Dave McCoul. Style invites audiences behind the scenes of the hectic planning and the big event itself in the upcoming special "Marry Me In Mexico: Trish's Dream Wedding." Trish, who claims not to have the "bride gene," certainly pulled out all of the stops for her May nuptials in Cancun, Mexico. Planning a destination wedding from the "Clean House" set was more complicated than setting up a huge yard sale or organizing closets but the yard sale diva came through, as...

Actually, this is awesome. Two of YouTube's most irritating juggernauts, Fred (with almost 500 million upload views and 1,794,243 channel subscribers) and Annoying Orange (with 139,169,748 upload views and 791,040 channel subscribers since its creation in January of this year) have teamed up, and on Thursday they released a video in which the two square off for the title of the "most annoying entity in the world." Despite my prior abhorrence of the two comedians, I found this video to be so absolutely hilarious, that I am now a fan and a subscriber of both channels. Hosted by the #4 Most Subscribed Comedian in Ireland Liam the Leprechaun, the video Annoying Orange: Leprechaun's Secret Weapon features a "one round, no-holds-barred, fight to the finish" comprising the main event of "Pester Fest 2010," during which the Annoying Orange and Fred take turns trying out-annoy one another. Bad puns, high-pitched screaming, and everything else you'd expect from these two jokers abound.

More news today in the ever evolving saga of web series star Fred and his Hollywood exploits as Fred: The Movie has been picked up by Nickelodeon. 16 year-old Fred creator and star Lucas Cruikshank is the titular protag in the comedy now headed for cable as a TV movie. Speculation of a theatrical release ended as this deal was announced, though as Variety reports, a sequel could head to theaters if it performs well on Nick. Our coverage of this YouTuber Movie began as curiosity, as we caught their casting notice sneaking out on Breakdowns. As the story spread, then came speculation over which “cameo name” is playing Fred’s dad. And then somehow we found ourselves bargain hunting in Silver Lake with the film’s Art Department at 7 on a Sunday morning. For the record, we scored a bunch of props from this movie that we’ll give away at some point.

No, the comic actor isn't talking about his last couple of movie roles. Will Ferrell has signed on to star in the indie film Everything Must Go, according to Variety. Go is being written and directed by Dan Rush, who has directed commercials before this, his first feature. Based on a story by the late Raymond Carver, the film is about a man who loses his job and then finds his wife has kicked him out and tossed all his stuff on the front lawn. His response? Yard sale. Sounds promising, and we can only guess that a quality, low-budget movie based on the work of a great American writer (who also provided the source material for Robert Altman's Short Cuts) might be the...

Watch as Lara looks for a special gift for Marie Osmond and Teri shows her what items were donated by which celebs. Then, listen as Teri explains the scary moment when Conan O'Brien was injured on "The Tonight Show" set. The recession has hit our nation hard and apparently no one is immune, not even millionaire playboys with superhero alter-egos.
A new video from Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's site, Funny or Die, shows veteran actor Adam West spoofing his old Batman alter-ego, as well as having some fun with his own image. It seems he's fallen on hard times and can't quite decide if he's an actor or the caped crusader. Either way, he'd like to unload some old bat-paraphernalia to pick up a couple of bucks.
And in case you're wondering, that's the same cave that was used as the Batcave entrance from the 1966 series. The cave is actually a tunnel that was created by the Union Rock Company in the early part of the century. It's located in Bronson Canyon in the Hollywood hills, not far from the famous Hollywood sign. The tunnel opening is much...

Former U.S. sitcom star Willie Aames is attempting to raise money and turn his life around following a suicide attempt last year - by selling off his personal belongings to neighbours.
The cash-strapped Charles In Charge actor held a garage sale on Thursday at his home in Olathe, Kansas - even signing autographs while haggling with bargain-hunters.
TV camera crews were there to film the sale, where Aames sold a variety of items including antiques, artwork, a piano, mounted deer heads and TV and movie memorabilia.
Aames attempted to take his own life last November by ingesting a cocktail of alcohol and pills and slashing his throat after suffering a breakdown in Los Angeles.
The star fell into a spiral of depression after his wife of 22 years, Maylo, asked for a divorce the same month he was declared bankrupt.

Clean House, Style network’s flagship cluttered home renovating show, is getting rid of two of its four hosts. I got a casting notice looking for a “Go-To Guy” and a “Yard Sale Diva,” positions that used to be occupied by Matt Iseman and Trish Suhr. While Iseman’s moved onto greener (or at least, more manly) pastures as the host of the new Sports Soup (check out our interview with him here), I don’t know if Suhr was fired or just decided to move on. The last regular woman on that show, Linda Koopersmith, sued after she was let go, alleging age discrimination. Maybe Suhr got too old, too? Either way, whoever replaces the departing hosts won’t be any more knowledgeable about home improvement and yard sales than their predecessors were—the casting notice stresses that it’s looking for comedians and improvisers for the roles, while carpentry skills are “not necessary.

Want to live like The Sopranos -- but in a completely legal kind of way? Well, you can. Various items from the production of The Sopranos (and other HBO shows) went up for sale today at a warehouse in Queens, New York.
Fans of the series lined up early this morning in hopes of grabbing some famous pieces from the Soprano home. They were able to take their pick of antiques, books, furniture and rugs from the New Jersey-esque sets.
Looking for Tony's well-worn robe, Christopher's jacket, or some choice cooking utensils from Carmella's kitchen? Forgetaboutit. The most recognizable pieces of memorabilia were shipped to Los Angeles for a future event.
The New York sale runs until next Monday and is being held on a lot across from 21-36 44th Road in Long Island City. I wonder if any of the items come with blood stain remover? Stay tuned!
