My Name Is Earl writer Hilary Winston has inked a two-year premium development deal with Sony Pictures TV.
In the first year, she will be loaned out to 20th Century Fox TV to continue on Earl, where she will be bumped up to producer next season.
After high school, Texas-native Winston headed to Washington, D.C., to pursue a career in politics and a dream to become the first female U.S. president. She went to George Washington University and landed an internship at the White House during the Bill Clinton administration.
She then switched careers with a stint at NPR as a producer/editor that led to a decision to focus on writing full time.
Winston, repped by ICM and attorney Jared Levine, joined Earl in the first season as a story editor. Her previous writing credits include the WB's Blue Collar TV and Nickelodeon's Head to Toe.
