Ken is a very talented director who has quite a resume of shorts under his belt. "lilab" is a very moving music video. It depicts the tales of both a young boy who is unsure of his sexuality and of a prostitute who appears (as most probably do) to despise what she is doing for a living. We jump in and out of the two stories as the prostitute returns to a room with her customer. The juxtoposition between the innocence of the boy and the exploitation of the woman is very effective in drawing our sympathies towards both. Beautifully photographed and also comes with a powerful twist. This is very characteristic of Wardrop. Who wraps his film up with a powerful punch. Fans of "lilab" will also enjoy "Undressing my Mother". The short documentary which won Ken "best short doc" @ the Galway Film Festival. As i said, keep an eye out.
