Bearable for a rookie work

This is "Dark Justice", an American live action short film from 2003, so it will soon have its 15th anniversary. The writer and director is Aaron Schoenke and today he is known as one of the people who made the best and most successful Batman fan films. These nine minutes here were how it all started. Of course, this is not a great film by any means and it does look amateurish at times, but taking into account that Schoenke has not worked in film before and was only 18 or 19 when he made this one, it is okay I guess. Anyway, here Batman needs to help his friend Commissioner Gordon after his daughter gets abducted. Can he find the kidnapper? Watch for yourself. But only if you really love Batman. Otherwise, this one will probably do nothing for you. I give it a thumbs-down, but I would not call it a failure. This one is also from before Christopher Nolan rebooting the franchise.

Really great

This film was gritty, and real, what Batman should be. It feels very much like Batman Begins, only made 2 years before. Look for Tanoai Reed, the Rock's stunt double, who also won stunt man of the year last year, playing Batman himself, plus a very cool ORIGINAL music score.

The film has something missing from fanfilms, a story and an enjoyable one at that. Granted its only 9 mins, but the story is simple enough to keep the movie moving. The action was great, thanks to the Rock's buddy. I also liked the serious tone this film has, unlike Grayson and Dead End, which are camp to no end.

Also you might have trouble finding this film, but I would try comic conventions for a bootlegged copy.
